Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez: I Hope Rubio Wins, Ends The Chavez Lie!

As previously reported on krikya360.com, middleweight Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27KOs) vacated his WBC Diamond title. The Argentine star was angry with the sanctioning body's failure to force a mandatory fight with WBC full champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0, 31KOs). The organization ordered the fight two weeks, at their 49th annual convention in Las Vegas. But a few days later WBC President Jose Sulaiman tried to get Martinez to step aside in order to allow Chavez to defend his title against number one ranked Marco Antonio Rubio (53-5, 46KOs) on February 4th in Texas.

I think Rubio has enough to beat Chavez Jr, especially because Rubio as a limited boxer still has great power and Jr has a terrible defense and hasn't faced a puncher like Rubio before. If Rubio gets the job done then we would surely see Rubio vs Martinez later in the year.

lmao at this guy calling JCC JR a coward when he had the balls to fight Zbik who Martinez flat out ducked and dodged like the plague when he was his mandatory along with a guy who just offered Martinez a career high payday named Pirog who Martinez also ducked and dodged like the plague

I hope he does too. A loss to both Chavez JR and Canelo would be a learning lesson and would bring down their expectations and ego back to reality.

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about do you? HBO declined that ****ty fight between Zbik and Martinez because they knew Martinez would kill him. Only reason Chavez JR got a fight with him was because they felt they both were on the same bum level to have a competitive fight (along with Arum pulling strings). Zbik was robbed in that fight by the way.

Sergio honestly should just shut up with all of this press that he does everyday. It gets really annoying seeing him say "oh Chavez jr. this and that. Oh I hate him blah blah blah blah blah." Now he relinquishes his Diamond belt and expects a fight? He just loves to do ****** things huh? DiBella and his own stubbornness will now prevent any real fights for him. He isn't going to fight Pirog, Geale, Sturm, or Golovkin since they are "big names" like Mayweather or Pacquiao and he isn't going to be fighting any 154 or 168lbers. Even if Chavez jr. beats Rubio (pretty good chance as well) I doubt that Martinez will do anything different to get a fight with him. Now that he doesn't have the diamond belt (lol), Chavez jr. has no reason to fight him at all since the WBC can't force him. Essentially, he shot himself in the foot. He also probably thinks that Mayweather and Pac might fight him now... He has spent nearly 2 years calling them out, shouldn't he kinda get it by now that they aren't going to fight him? It's just common sense when you're 2 weight classes above them.

Sergio is probably just going to have a few more fights against decent fighters and just retire now that he's up in age. He's not getting any big fights anytime soon.

Im pulling for Rubio in this one too. Fair play on Martinez for standing up for himself, now its time to go and find a meaningful fight that will pay and be competitive

                    Could go either way.

Would like to see Rubio win the big one.

But he doesn't always perform well in the big fight.

If Chavez beats Rubio he will truly vindicate himself and prove himself a very solid fighter,
