Don't use the referee as an excuse.
The gameplan coupled with Khan's ****** mentality brought the loss, the ref was doing his job, Khan was warned enough.

NO Warnings???? When Roach Replays the Fight today he will see there were Plenty of Warnings from the Ref and that the KnockDown Khan got in the first was nothing more than a slip. So all the GUys complaining about the Ref should take another Look at that 10/8 1st round for Khan and Explain how there was Knockdown because it looked like their Legs got Tangled

scores were 113-112 (twice) for Peterson, overruling a 114-111 card in Khan's favor. I scoredd it 113-112 for Khan. Had there been no point deductions, Khan would have retained his titles by unanimous decision. As distracting as the referee's wretched performance was, it should not detract from the fight, ...or Peterson's performance, one of the year's most inspirational. Credit for Peterson for having the heart and will of a champion by not quitting but it wasn't enough to beat Khan since he wasn't more aggressive when he needed to be..
The ref never gave a hard warning by letting the fighter know he was going to deduct a point which is something he should've done. Peterson didn't "beat" Khan...the referee did!
Peterson said afterwards he would give Khan a rematch and I believe him!
I hope it happens because it was a close and great fight!

Khan was warned plenty of times and there was no knock down in the first round, both were slips.
The ref was great. He could have taken more points from Khan for constant holding.

i don't get this at all- in what way was the referee terrible?
khan was holding/pushing/pulling down/refusing to break at every opportunity. the referee correctly warned him repeatedly- in fact i thought he was letting him get away with it for far too long- and then ended up taking a point.
when khan arrogantly still didn't get the message and kept on, before finally being forced to break by the referee and then hitting peterson whilst the referee was between them, well another point is fair enough.
i was just glad to see that although khan believed he was acting with total impunity, that he was dealt with fairly by having points taking away at appropriate moments in the fight.
i doubt khan would have gotten through the fight if he hadn't spoiled so much, but that's another theme.
