                    Lippe-Morrison's KO streak reaches five

By CHRISTIAN FAVALORA Special to the Times

MIAMI — Promoter Tony Holden said it from the first day of his young brawler's career, "He's gotta learn to stretch that fight out."

Trey Lippe-Morrison won his fifth professional boxing match Saturday night at Buffalo Run Casino, and he did it the only way he knows how - first round knockout.

Lippe-Morrison (5-0) knocked out Matt Foster of Topeka, Kan., 1:53 into the first round.

When he stepped into the ring, Lippe-Morrison knew about as much about Foster as he did about losing, which is to say not much. Foster was a late addition to the card but many expected him to be the hometown hero's biggest challenge.

And he was. Despite the sudden ending, Lippe-Morrison and his trainer Randy Rouse said Foster, who made his professional debut in the loss, didn't disappoint.

"It might have been quick, but he is probably, out of all my opponents, the one who boxed me the best," Lippe-Morrison said. "My very first fight, it did go to the second round, but if I knew what I was doing, that first fight wouldn't have made the second round."

He went down in the first but that was still my best challenge."

A left hook dazed Foster early into the fight. Lippe-Morrison, who weighed in at 223 pounds, said he saw it in Foster's eyes and went in with a wild combination.

Rouse said there will be plenty to work on in the coming days (a Nov. 15 return to the ring has been rumored), but that Lippe-Morrison is only getting better.
