Hamed believes he can still win at the highest level
Britain's former WBO featherweight champion Prince Naseem Hamed has hinted at making a return to the ring after a three-year lay-off.
The 31-year-old Sheffield boxer has not fought since May 2002 but said he could re-appear in the new year.
"I've been boxing since I was seven," he told the Sheffield Star newspaper.
"I simply needed a break. I miss boxing and I believe boxing misses me, too. In the new year you could witness something special."
Hamed became Britain's youngest world champion when he won the world featherweight title aged 21 years and seven months in 1995 and defended it 15 times.
He also added the IBF crown when he beat Tom Johnson in London in 1997 and he claimed the WBC title with a points win over Cesar Soto in Detroit in 1999.
Hamed has fought 37 times as a professional, losing only to Marco Antonio Barrera in 2001 by decision.
