I am also really wondering how much the ring rust as well as the weight he had to drop affected Donaire tonight.

Although he looked dominant, he was throwing very wild punches very early in the fight. this kid needs to move up, fight guys who aren't so intimidated by his size and power that they go into a shield the whole fight!

Barker and Narvaez seem to be from the sam Boxing Academy! Let's play defense and wait until the more skilled, faster and stronger fighter makes a mistake! Not gna happen son! Only thing Donaire needs to work on and I agree with Merchant is his lack of side step to hit the body! Roach is the best at teaching his fighters to come around and side step to connect for a liver shot! Other than that Donaire is a beast! Some of these boxers thing they are Money May can play defense but yet at same time connect at will! Well there not! So either u fight or u lose to a more skilled fighter!

The fight was not what I expected. It was dissapointing like Pac/Clottey and for the same reason. Nonito did what he could and the boos that I heard were horrible...people that boo a fight are a disgrace because all they want to see is blood and knockouts...this isn't the UFC...later on I could understand the booing because I got bored. Narvarez has a good defense and even marked up Nonito's face but he should have put up more of an effort. I think Hop/Dawkins was more entertaining in my opinion but some boxing is better than no boxing. Seeing Lopez there I thought to myself..wow he looks chubby. After his loss to Salido I am pretty sure Donaire takes the fight to him if it happens and I predict a stopage around round 10 in favor of Donaire.
On another note...the rest of the year looks to be entertaining.

i thaught after the first 3 rounds narveas was gonna win,he looked like he had a real game plan to break him down and knock him but he was in survival mode for the rest of the , couldnt let his hands go but he did have a good defence, i see landed more clean punches but for every 1 he threw he had 20 coming at him

I knew Narvaéz had a very good defense & good boxing skills(I've seen him fight a couple of times)..But UNFORTUNATELY tonight he DIDN'T try to win & was just happy to go the distance!! Like someone posted before, he did like Clottey vs Pacquiao or like he stated-->Clotteyed!(ironically against another Pinoy power house!) Especially after he felt Donaire's power in the 3rd..In another thread(yesterday) I posted that Donaire had the advantage, but that Narvaéz wasn't going to be easy, BUT ***!!I NEVER THOUGHT IT WAS GOING OT BE LIKE THIS!!Narvaéz left a VERY BAD taste in boxing fans mouth's, especially for those who had never seen him before... By all means I'm NOT blaming Donaire(he tried his best to make this an exciting fight)but I think if Donaire would have gone to the body more(especially from the beginning), it would have been a different fight & probably would have forced Narvaéz to open up more & would have made the fight more interesting..All I know is that know Donaire is going to CLEAN UP the super batam/jr feather weight(122lbs) division!!Can't wait to see that!!

Nonito didn't prove to be more skilled tonight. He proved he was much bigger & much heavier. But he actually was forced into fighting Narvaez's fight. Nonito looked out of pocket several times tonight. Only peoblem w/ ur comparison to barker is Barker was bigger than martinez & ultimately succumed to punishment & got ktfo...Narvaez made nonito look like he couldn't impose his will on him...

Narvaez is a really good fighter, he was just completely out of his class with Donaire though.

Narvaez's technique is really solid and I don't think he disappointed his Argentine fans; Donaire was just too strong and too skillful.
I agree w/ 90% of what you said. I wouldn't say that Donaire was too skillful bcuz I believe Narvaez is just as skilled. Donaire was just too big tonight. He's reach, height and weight were too much.

I also want to see Narvaez fight again but a fighter in his weight class.

I wonder what both fighters rehydrated to.

Yeah, that's what he said. I LOL'd at that. That's probably the only shot he got in out of that snooze fest performance. Nonito was trying to penetrate him all night long had he got through he would have really fucked him, making Narvaez the maricon. Clearly he was scared of Nonito's superior skill, sad he had to resort to calling him a maricon. Too funny...
