Comments Thread For: Bernard Hopkins Not KO Focused: I Just Destroy People

Bernard Hopkins isn’t preoccupied with scoring what would be his first knockout in seven years.

The WBC light heavyweight champion has all but stated that his HBO Pay-Per-View main event Saturday night against Chad Dawson will go the distance. Hopkins hasn’t won by knockout since he stopped Oscar De La Hoya with a body shot in the ninth round of their middleweight title fight in September 2004, while Dawson has consistently displayed a reliable chin during his 10-year pro career.

Yeah, B-hop isn't a ko artist. Maybe that's why people think he's boring. But not me. It's a beautiful thing to see B-Hop schooling youngsters at the peak of their game!!

LOL not a surprise. He is focused in giving fans another boring and dirty fight further decreasing our already non existing interest for another one of his fights.

Hopkis needs to retire. It's like an old ice cream machine, it still gets the ice cream out but in such a boring fashion. We want new flashy appealing ice cream machines that help the product taste better. Nice.

        B-Hop Schooling Youngsters

Did you mean to say, "It's a beautiful thing B-Hop schooling small guys" which means, him taking advantage of beating blown up WW's or other Smaller guys or selectively (and wisely so) picking guys he knows he can beat.

Of course I now expect you to come charging and cursing at me because I basically disagree with your comment.

B-Hop is a bottom feeder, an opportunist who only goes after small guys or guys more famous than himself so he can make a case for himself to be considered an all-time great.

If he does beat Chad Dawson though, I will take back everything I have ever said about him, unless of course Chad was paid to take a fall by GBP.

Again, no need for you to come swinging with curses. Present your FACTS, that's all.

The fact that hopkins hasn't scored a KO in like 8 years or something like that and yet has been beating much younger opponents truly is a testament to his skill and ring IQ. An old big George Foreman still had tremendous power and it bailed him out of some fights he was losing, like against Moorer of course, bhop on the other hand is doing it all by his wits and boxing ability. Pretty remarkable despite what a few ******ed haters might say who obviously don't know **** about boxing.

you make a good point....wins over simon brown, tito, oscar, winky, pavlik, and even pascal to a certain extent lined up back to back look great on paper, but in the ring hopkins was way bigger and stronger than those cats...even jones was a name that hopkins could exploit, but the fighter was way past better days...

You're right. Haglers wins over Tommy Hearns and Roberto Duran are good on paper, but since he was way bigger and stronger than those cats, he shouldn't get credit. Not too mention he lost to a blown up welterweight coming out of retirement in ray leonard. How embarrassing! Add to that he beat guys who moved up in weight like Marcos Geraldo, Bobby Watts, an old and blown up welterewight in Bennie Briscoe. Jeez what a cherry picker he was!

God I love exposing double standards! Who's next!?

Hopkins is a good 10 years away from 'destroying' anyone - has relied on guile, ring smarts, conditioning and subtely dirty tactics that refs tend to overlook -- as well as being VERY CAREFUL about who he gets in there with.... people should remember that when BHop and Jones fought when both were in their prime, Jones toyed with him for an easy win.....

lol it actually wasn't an easy win for jones he won clearly but it was competitive and he certainly didn't toy with hopkins and blow him away like he did to everyone else including james toney. And besides, neither hopkins nor jones were in their prime at the time yet they were both green and even if you think they were, how many guys beat a prime roy jones? oh that's right no one!
