well Nishioka obviously won the fight so there is no "excuses" there, and I don't have a problem with a japanese guy beating Rafa.

Anyways you only had to watch his fight against becerril on the undercard of Marquez vs Ramos a couple months back to know he is clearly past it.....

impressed by nishoka for outskilling the very skilled rafa...rafa looked lost at times, he could'nt land the punches that mattered.....i would've liked for nishioka to open up a bit more tho, he should work on his combos...

A very tactical fight. Now Nishioka can fight Donaire, Arce or even unify with Ramos. But some JP media are reporting that Nishioka will retire after the next defense of his title. What the h*ll is with his promoter? Or maybe am I too selfish a fan of his, hoping that he fights on and on?

I don't know much about Toshiaki Nishioka, but some other posters who posted on this topic claim Toshiaki Nishioka is also past his best. So I guess two past their best fighters went at it. But excuses still fly out when someones fighter loses.

I saw the fight, I thought I would see the Marquez that comes to slug more. He wasnt doing to bad, but I kept watching and I knew that he wasnt going to win. I want him to win another title before he calls it quit

                    Nishioka showed great movement.

                    Good fight.

They should have him fight in the US more.

Sad to say, but it sounded like there were a lot more people in that fight compared to Sergio's.

I have followed his career, because of Veeraphol and their fights (I was a huge fan of Veeraphol and really enjoyed Nishioka when they fought and have watched him since. Very skilled fighter and good to watch. Him and the Japanese Gatti Joe Tatsuyoshi were both brilliant and exciting fighters of that time and Nishioka is still going strong), and he is past his best too. Probably still has more left in the tank but he is clearly slower of hand, reflex and is thus using his boxing skill and tactical plan more to compensate. He is, and always has been, a very, very fine fighter.

It's a pity he's only getting any time now that he's in the twilight of his career. BW was a great, great division back when Sahaprom was the best. It's because it was ruled by Japanese and Thai fighters largely that they were unheard of by most in the US etc. He's been a great fighter for a long time now though. I don't think there are any today, apart from maybe Donaire at his best, that would have beaten Sahaprom in his prime. The guy was a beast and his and Nichioka's fights were excellent.

Anyway, I was 99% sure that Nishioka would win. Still has a bit more left than Rafa.
