How would you describe the Mayweather/Ortiz result?..

As it relates to and affects the sport of boxing. A fight of this magnitude with arguably 1 of the most important fighters in the entire sport has to have a strong affect on the sport's success as a whole.

How does everyone think last Saturday's result affected boxing? Please explain your position/answer. Poll to follow, please discuss!

I see a lot of fans seemingly celebrating the way this fight unfolded. I'm hoping at least a couple people will step up and vote "Great Day For Boxing" and explain why they feel this way.

Horrible day, it could be the day sportmanship dies in boxing.

How many time do we see fighters touch gloves, now what, will we see, the feint touch glove folowed by the hook straight combo.

It was deception by Floyd, nothing to do with boxing skills.

If Cortez instructed them to fight then why wasn't he looking at the action.

And the rant at Mechant just topped it off.

        bad day for boxing.

Fans want a good fight not cheap shots.

On one side boxing is in everybody's mouth like it wasn't for a long time...

On the other side for the wrong reasons though...

I think if it would have happened in the 8th round or something there would have been still an uproar but it would have been a little less... in the 4th round for the not so knowing fan the fight wasn't established and could have gone either way... were all of the sudden a headbutt accured and then a KO which was legal but of course leaves a bad taste in your mouth...

It's hard to say... I think we will have to see... this fight damn sure wasn't a savior for boxing but which fight was... it definitely not killed boxing... controversy always creates openings... ppl love controversy... so we will have to see

Was pretty farcical, the card had been building up nicely to the conclusion, which did have its moments but turned into a bit of a mess.

But it's getting casual fans talking about and thinking about Mayweather and boxing in general. So maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Boxing flourished during Tyson's strangest and most controversial days..

The only reason I didn't vote for a "horrible day".

I would say this could end up resulting in slightly increased PPV sales for Mayweather and even Pacquiao.

I think it's a letdown for hardcore fans who sat watching hours of build up and went out of their way to hype up casual fans.

I also think it's a letdown for Mayweather in terms of his resume. What would have been a win over a young lion now for many has an asterik..

Right, because it could be a blessing in disguise. However, hardcore fans have to just grind it out and get robbed of a true fight ending.
