Only die hard floyd fans would be happy with a sucka punch ending like that. Real fans want to see a fight, they waited god knows how many months for, and paid for.
Its hard to arrange fights, wait for fights, and expensive. So no one wants a sucka punch ending like that. 2 wrongs dont make a right.

The ref should be the one regulating when the fight starts/stops and the action, etc. Not the fighters. Cortez blew it and admitted it. Nothing more to say or dispute.

Touch gloves doesnt exist now because of floyd. Because you can knock your opponent out split seconds after pretending to have no beef with your opponent and say Floyd did so can i.

Boxers have for centuries abided by the unwritten touch gloves rule book. Floyd the rebel he is, doesnt feel he has to.

This is exactly how I see it!

You ponzi biased boxing fans are sad as hell - it wasn't a sucker punch, a sucker got punched - live with it! Ortiz was throwing his head the whole fight, he wanted a way out - do you really think he couldn't beat the count? this is a fight - you guys are critiquing some old news! how many hugs and kisses do you want floyd to accept? floyd had his hands up, why would ortiz walk up to him and hug and kiss him again - if your position in the fight is to be a thug and ruff floyd up then so be it, but when you get caught don't turn into a ***** - you guys are defending a dude who was cheating - floyd is a dog! believe that - do your homework watch the Gatti and mosley fight - protect your self at all times, and don't touch my glove at the end of every round - hate on stuff that effects you directly, take your I love this boxer button off your chest and learn to watch and observe, Floyd stalked dude the whole fight and landed relentless straight rights down the pipe - your boy wanted out of that, then has the nerve to smile and wink at the camera while he was sitting on his stool after the KO, then says that andre berto was better faster and stronger? dude is a nut case

F alll that bull****.... the point WILL ALWAYS BE..... Floyd fully knowing Ortiz was in retreat & hadn't begun to take a fighting stance whether it be on offense or defense.. HE KNEW FULL WELL ORTIZ WAS BACKING UP AFTER THE TOUCHING OF THE GLOVES TO RESET OR WAIT FOR THE REFS SIGNAL..... IF ORTIZ'S INTENTION Would've BEEN TO throw leather as he was going towards FM... HE WOULD'VE DONE SO... HE GAVE THE APOLOGY.... TOUCHED THE GLOVES.... HE DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY START THROWING PUNCHES A SPLIT SECOND AFTER THAT ENCOUNTER... THE HUMANE THING TO DO (& PLEASE F THE RULES) was to let him get set before you continue the boxing match... it's Ortiz that was the one coming to you.... you give him a chance to go back.. you accepted the ****ing gesture only so you can put him at momentary ease as he was retreating so you could cold**** him... THAT'S ****ING CHEATING... REGARDLESS OF WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE HEADBUTT.... TIME WAS STOPPED SO ORTIZ WAS APPROPRIATELY PENALIZED..... WHAT YOU DID WAS BLATANTLY END THE FIGHT..... THIS WAS NO EYE FOR AN EYE..... THIS WAS 2 EYES FOR AN EYE & YOU BEING MISCHIEVIOUS BECAUSE YOU SAW AN OPPORTUNITY TO QUIT AFTER THE HEADBUTT & YOU TOOK IT... HEADBUTT ONLY CAUSED A BUSTED LIP... IT DIDN'T HINDER YOUR ABILITY TO CONTINUE TO FIGHT... YOU DIDN'T WANT TO BE IN A FIGHT SUCH AS THIS.. THAT WAS GETTING PHYSICAL & A LITTLE IN THE TRENCHES & YOU BAILED... PLUS THE FACT YOU FELT ORTIZ' POWER BEFORE THE HBUTT & FLOYD "THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE".... SPIN IT ANY OTHER WAY AS YOU SEE FIT... BUTT i'm calling a spade a spade... you cowardly quit.. regardless of how shady the other fighter WAS.......you used his crazy quirks & numerous apologies & hid behind them so you could be justified in the cowardly actions you took..... END OF STORY!

yelling "let's go!" and waving both fighters in while moving away is pretty clear

Cortez said Ortiz made 2 mistakes. i disagree. He made 3 mistakes. The 1st one was signing for a fight that he had absolutely zero chance of winning.

cortez always says lets go to after giving the fighters a lecture, then proceeds to start the timer and finally gives the motion to fight

didn't do that here, in fact, when he motioned them in you can see his arm still inbetween the two and he doesn't ever back off like you normally would to give the fighters the room to continue fighting

I hate Floyd, but thought what he did was justified because of the intentional butt.
Plus i wasnt disappointment because although it promised to be a decent fight if Ortiz kept applying pressure, he was losing, frustrated, and we have seen it all before.
Floyds fights against SSM and JMM were boring, and this controversial bizarre and i found the KO and the Larry interview very entertaining.
It was a one off incident, and these strange things are what add to the unique unpredictable nature of the sport.

Just my opinion. I can understand why most people felt really disappointed by the ending.
