I really don't think McBride can beat Ruiz. McBride would be the perfect style for Ruiz.

        White Hope???

I sure don't understand this. This isn't the godamn 20s anymore. We should be past this. Nationalism is great. But being concerned with a fighter's skin pigment? A very unevovled way of thinking.

Hm... I never knew ESPN was a public non-cable channel...

knuckleheads..this is just my opinion..he can be the next big white hope and he will show that in the fight with skeleton.i just saw gerry cooney fight with larr homes back in 82,even though he lost and was dominated,he left everything he had in that ring and if he would have gone for the knock out from the opening bell like he used to do in prior fights,i did beleive that he would knock holmes down if not out..if anybody noticed holmes got hurt with the bodyshot and walked very slow back to the corner..mcbride can knock ruiz out..time will tell.

A white hope has to be an American heavyweight of Irish or Italian decent. There have been plenty of champions that where white Americans in the last hundred years, but I don't know if there has been any white american heavyweight champions in the last fifty years.

I think the white supremisist fans are looking for a Matalone to get excited about. Can't they just fall in love with Vitaly's awkward defensive style?

Joe Mesi was a white hope. He made about ten times as much as he should have in his career because of that. If he was black he would be on the same level as Darvell Williamson.

First of all, isnt the whole term "White Hope" a term invented by white americans? Cause there are caucasian champions in europe you know...

So please lest no get Vitali and Wlad and McBride involved in this little bull**** that suprinsgly americans have to deal with in the 21st century...

sad sad ****... Isnt an American Champion enough? Who cares if he's black, white or of Latino background?

That is true at all, and completly unfair to Mesi who knocked out Williamson in 1 RD. I feel real bad for Mesi contenders he KO'd in 1 RD (Barret and Williamson) r now getting title shots while is tangled up in this court mess. Mesi was a legit contender and probably could have gotten an alphabet title in the bleak heavyweight division.
