Cotto has a chance but hes past it. He hasn't looked the same since the Margarito fight. The man looked like crap against Clottey for godsakes. And why do you say a win against PAcquiao would be so good for Floyd when Pacquio fought an even older Mosley and is now fighting the same blown up JMM this september?

Come on bro, your reasoning has so many flaws its laughable!
come now BRO.. the triangle theory and all. i do think marg is a cheater and all. b ut Cotto. we really know why floyd conveniently had her beauty sleep and was chanting "PR was far and all" to avoid a stud like cotto. styles makes fight. i dont want no self proclaimed GOAT saying a wouldve couldve shouldve wile another boxer is doing the work for him.

Watch the Mayweather vs Bruseles fight and listen to the commentary. Floyd did in fact want to fight Cotto but Arum was still building Cotto's stock; trying to build Cotto as the next superstar at the time. And yes styles do make fights thats why I believe Cotto would lose! Ortiz is a worse style match up for Floyd.
Cotto is one handed fighter. He uses his jab and his left hook to beat opponents. Once Floyd adjust to that jab, its over for Cotto.

Come on now. you dont think mental midget Ortiz is suddenly a warrior after watching 24/7. He is the same fighter. he had a good WW performance against ATG berto (sarcasm). but besides that? what?

reality aint fantasy match dawg. i dont give props to fantasy wins. specially coming off blatant ducks. as well should you.

          I'd say about 7.

It's a good win, not the best win of his career.
Styles make fights, and Ortiz's style happens to suit Floyds perfectly.

That said, good win for Floyd.

Look at the pre berto ORTIZ hommie. Ortiz aint all that. no GOOD WW win whatsoever.

You have to look at it objectively. He is the top welterweight in the world not named Mayweather or Pacqiuao. He is huge, young, and coming off of the best win of his career.
Ortiz is literally the top opponent after Pac. You have to give Mayweather credit where it is due.

Who, at Welter, would you rather he fight? Berto, who Ortiz just whooped? Or how about Jan Jan?

Floyd is not fighting the pre-Berto Ortiz. He is fighting the post-Berto Ortiz. And its VERY possible that the move up makes him a much better fighter. Like it did for Cotto.

I agree with this thread...nobody is "ready" to be an opponent for Pacquiao unless they are shot, 39, and fighting at a catchweight...floyd is cherry picking coward fighting 24 year old welterweight champions...if he had real balls he would fight for vacant paper titles!!!!
