So that's how you crack Mayweather's defense.

Hit the body! Why didn't I think of that?

I can't believe out of Mayweather's 40+ fights none of them didn't stop to think; "I know, let's hit him in the body"

As soon as he fights someone who doesn't solely headhunt it is curtains for Floyd.

Floyd do have a solid chin but his body isn't really tested. If Ortiz can manage to penetrate May's world class defence and land some shots, I say land them on May's ribs.

Floyd had shown that he has had a broken rib so it may still be vulnerable.

Can't wait for the fight, about 1 month from now. WAR ORTIZ!!!!! Ortiz took Berto's 0. He gonna take Mayweather's as well.

Mayweather "They put 41 infront of me. 41 came out short"
      Ortiz "Not this one"
Just remember, When you throw to the body, you leave your head open, and Mayweather will make you pay!

The fighter who had the most success going to the body vs Floyd was probably Jesus Chavez.

He was like a man possessed going to the body.

        He paid for it though.

To me that fight willl always be 'the fight that Lederman was scoring a draw going into the round Floyd stopped him in'

What the hell was he watching?

lederman scores fights very weirdly. he rarely scores on who lands more etc. he likes to pick the person he thinks is doing more damage. the thing is, thats much too subjective. and that fight proved it.

if hes fighting i high guard, he doesnt fight straight up. he leans in and he controls distance to the point that uts nearly impossible to touch his body at all. like i said, he knows what hes doing, very hard to touch low. when fighters see they dont have a target, they typically dont go for it.
^^^^^TRUE STORY!!! When he does the "Cross"...the set up is right hand protects jaw and ribs on right side, shoulder protects left side of his face andleft arm protects left side ribs and stomach/belt line. All that with him bending at the waist and taking half steps back really makes it hard to land downstairs. Best bet is when he's against the ropes but even then your more than likely going to land on elbows a la Oscar!!

Of course. It is common knowledge that Floyd doesn't throw counters.

If you attack Floyd's body, there is NO WAY that he will be returning hard stuff back upstairs.

LOl @ bute and cotto style.

For starters, bute isn't a body puncher. He has a counter uppercut that goes top or bottom, that's it. To do it "bute" style, he'd have to try and counter punch floyd which IMO aint happening. Cotto style though, maybe. He has an offensive body attack and he has combinations down there, bute just has 1 punch that he gets to the body.

When he turns his body like that (blades himself) you get penalized for throwing your RIGHT HAND (if you're orthodox) because you risk hitting him in the BACK. THATS WHY NO ONE ATTACKS HIS BODY. They risk points being takena way by hitting him in his back.

Thats why it's said that a good jab is the key t obeating floyd, because wit ha good lead hand (left hand, if you're conventional) you can go to the body and head effectively with jabs and hooks down and upstairs since that's the side he rolls to.

THIS is why he doesn't use the shoulder roll against SOUTHPAWS. Because the LEFT HAND, which is the ONLY HAND HE HAS TO WORRY ABOUT the majority of the time, is now his opponents POWER HAND, and he can't risk rolling into a power hand.

All we need is some stubborn person to not give a **** and slam hands to floyds lower back when he rolls. Penalty or not, it will effect floyd and it would be his own fault for turning. No one does it though.

THe few men who didn't care have given him his toughest fights. He couldn't roll as often against Castillo for example because castillo would crowd him and throw flurries. Getting hit in his back would make him square up as opposed to rolling, or risk back injuries.

This is in no way shape or form the way to beating floyd though, it is just a way of getting him out of his element and into a different defensive posture. Thing is.. floyd is just as good squaring up as he is rolling. He has an all around defense and if you still have a HUGE task at hand regardless.

                      That's easier said than done.

Floyd always does a great job of not getting hit especially to the body.

Whenever a fighter does get inside with Floyd to hit his body, he either fights them back with sharp right hands and left hooks or he ties them up. He's so awkward inside because of how he uses his elbows.

Ortiz simply hasn't got the ability to get inside and hit Floyd.

Floyd is simply too smart and too well rounded for Ortiz.
