I'm something of a curious guy: i was just wondering if there's anyone on Earth that likes TV commentators. I'm not talking about technical commentators (Lennox Lewis, Manny Steward, Roy Jones...), but the likes of Larry Merchant and similar.... I think that if boxing champions are the type of guys who enjoy being hated/feared, commentators are the guys who enjoy being scorned 
You know, if Manny Pacquiao's the one you hate to love, Larry Marchant is the one your dog loves to pee on. 
I can't think about a more useless cathegory of workers: nothing personal, but they're basically people who's paid to talk about boxing, have never been into boxing themselves, barely even took a punch and act out like experts in the science for watching hundreds of bouts.
There are mainly two cathegories of commentators: the gayish/jumpy/excitable ones like Max Kellerman for example (the one with the constant "Am I good, boss?"-look on his face), and the grumpy/megalomaniac ones like Larry Merchant: a guy who believes he's a legend, but he donesn't know that he's the only individual on Earth that really thinks that way. The one that likes to think: "Hey, Roy Jones jr. just picked on me... I'm awesome!" I mean, I bet even his own mother loved to pick on him.
It's just like scaring sky**** away: who's never done it? That's what they're there for, that's why the Lord created them: being scared away by kids for fun.
I even suspect that Larry Merchant is stuffed. I mean, there can't be any guts in that belly of his... There must be a compound of silicone rubber or similar.
