Comments Thread For: Peterson Grinds Down Cayo, Closes in on Shot at Khan

27-year old Jr. Welterweight Lamont Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KO) of Memphis, Tennessee, put himself in the thick of title contention on Friday night at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada with a dominant performance against 26-year old Victor Cayo (26-2, 18 KO) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, culminating with the stoppage in the twelfth and final round of an IBF eliminator.

Well, I don't know about this I mean they said it gives him a shot at Khan but the way espn was talking that Khan could avoid this match-up some how so Peterson loses out on the payday. I think Peterson has earned the fight but I'd pick Khan to dominate Peterson for 12 rounds to win a lopsided decision win.

Cayo landed some nice punches like a beautiful uppercut on Peterson and it didn't phase Peterson one bit. Cayo looked very very feather-fisted. I just think if Khan landed punches like that on Peterson, it would make Peterson resort to survival mode. Huge difference from fighting Cayo to Khan.

Peterson has got a nice shot selection as well, he could probably stun Khan.
I don't think Peterson gets another chance at Khan, it will most likely be Morales.

Who's fighting Morales? I'd pick Khan or Peterson to beat Morales. I think Morales will struggle against other boxers compared to fighting a brawler type style in Maidana. Morales is past his best but style wise Maidana fit perfectly for Morales, thats why Morales looked good.

Enjoyable FNF card for my money.

As for Khan, I'm not really sure how that goes. Lamont seems to fight up or down to the level of his opponent, but obviously that will only be to a point. I don't think Khan would have the same type of advantage on the outside that he did against Zab though, and Peterson actually has the balls to nail Khan with speedier shots that he may not totally see coming.

I'd pick Amir, but I think Lamont could make a fight of it.

Peterson did some great body work in this fight. I think a fight with khan would be tough but he could probably make it competitive. Peterson is more skillful then the last few people Khan has fought.

Khan will fight Morales for the WBC strap, if Barrios doesn't pull an upset. If Barrios does, then Khan will probably fight Peterson or Guerrero/Maidana.

I think Peterson would present serious stylistic problems for Kahn but don't think this fight will happen, unfortunately

Im sorry but Peterson is not that good. Cayo has zero power and he is way too slow to fight the style he fights. These guys both lack the raw athleticism, speed, and explosiveness that Khan has. It looked like both these guys were punching in sloooww mooottttttion. . . . Khan slices up Peterson in brutal fashion.

Morales fight is pointless, Khan should fight winner of Maidana/Guerrero if Bradley still running.
