Manny Pacquiao=Poor HBO Ratings? Wtf?

You can't really blame HBO. It's very hard to promote a fight to an American audience where both fighters are not fully fluent in English or do not have some sort of flash or charisma. Marquez has a second rate Mexican following at best, his fans are the leftovers from Barrera, Morales, Castillo and others. As much as people want to believe that Pacquiao is popular in the United States, he is far from it, not on a national level. Prince Hamed was a huge ratings guy because of the flash, charisma, attitude and one punch KO ability.

There was a lot of talk over the Pacquiao-Marquez bout and the rematch should do much better in the TV ratings.

yeah, you are right. i think the rematch will attract more viewers. did prince naseem hamed had really those big followers in the US? i know he is a yemeni, but also have been to the UK, so maybe, that helped the tv rating..americans and british watching...so as likened to kostya tzyu, who is from russia( am i right ) but now lives in australia..do you think this situations helped them..so if manny will settle in the US, do you think it will help his reputation grow higher??

yes manny is one of the most exciting featherweights today..but I think HBO must be blamed also if the rating was not that good because they have all the machineries to promote a fight, not only to the home countries of those 2 people fighting but also to every part of the world. can they do that?? HBO is a media company, why not do like CNN doing in promnoting fights?? evry person who has an access to a television, can eventually know that there is a pay per view fight of one of the most exciting featherweights in the world..

why should they spend more of thier money on pac-man than they do other fighters to promote a fight. personally i don't think manny is one of the most exciting fighters to watch. stylistically, while very effective, he is an ugly fighter. shame i couldn't see his last fight because it seems that he has added a few new weapons to his arsonal. in the fights i have seen pac in he has won on power and aggression, not boxing style and skills. personally i hope hbo does show pac fights. if he is fighting morales i don't think we will have a problem with that. but lets face it folks, pac man isn't that well known to the casual boxing fan. pac man needs the big name opponents to generate the kind of viewing audience hbo wants. and people wonder why its hard for him to get fights with the big names. he wants too much money. errrr murad does. i think another problem pac man has is that even though he has had the one fight with mab the general american boxing fan has not taken him in yet.

that's your own opinion man, i respect it but i think these coming fights of manny will attract more viewers, as long as he keeps on winning, which i know he can do it.if he will join golden boy promotions, i think he'll have more chances in showcasing his wares, but i don't know how will oscar manages him, because he (oscar) is a latino by blood, and manny isn't..so oscar may favor his bloodmen..the fact that the featherweight division is full of mexicans...

remember no one really knew JMM and many didnt care or thoguht his win against mab was a fluke (mann paquiao)...but i bet no matter what...cuz word got out on these 2 and their great fight...no matter where/time they fight...next time it will attract a lot of attention

hahahaha 2 funny, why should hbo go all out on manny when hes not a fighter of hbo, just cuz you guys treat him like Ali in the phillipines, hes not the Ali figure around the U.S, before Barrera and J.M.M. no one cared about him in the states and i doubt hes making a lot of noise in europe, give the guy some time or he should get a new promoter maybe G.B.promotions
