Danny Williams's Battle Bus

No one's got much love for Danny Williams, but as a fighter who's underrated in terms of ability, he did well to get up off the canvas no less than four times against Klitschko.

Sure, in some ways it was embarrassing and horrific to see him take such a beating, but somehow I think if Vitali's next opponent goes down he won't show half the chin or balls that Danny did.

Anyway, let's talk about Danny's "Battle Bus". Shamed when he had to pull out through sickness in a British title bout with Matt Skelton in June, the fight is now back on for December.

Except Skelton's demanding £50,000 of Danny's purse to go through with the fight.

Williams says he's never been so willing to knock someone out (Skelton called him a "yellow streak") and is going to drive to Skelton's home town offering him out and he'll go to the fight with £25,000 of his own money to give to Skelton if Skelton beats him.

Danny's the nuts, man, I know a lot of people hate Brits but he's a really nice guy who hasn't had the chance to show his skills (he was outclassed by Vitali but I'd bet on him to take out 80% of the heavies out there, no joke) and he's got balls the size of boulders.

Third round, cut, bloodied and just recovering from his second heavy KD off Klitschko, a man who's chin he just can't get near:

"Don't quit on me now, Danny!"

"Who's quitting?"



See? They were friendly... Danny just had to say all the "I'll take Klitschko's belt" stuff to sell the fight. He meant no disrespect, he's a nice guy.

To be honest boxing has such a low profile now in the UK that he's not that well known over here either. It's not been on terrestial (ie. free) TV for ages, really.

The guy can box a bit though... he didn't get to show this in the Vitali fight, but he's decent.

I have a lot of respect for Danny boy, and I think its a shame that he is hated and despised here...I mean he showed his best against Vitaly..but on that night he was just in a different department in terms of boxing ability compared to Vitaly.
And I will root for Danny to ktfo Skelton.

From the opening bell he looked intimidated and unwilling to engage. He wasn't jabbing, he was walking around a few feet away from Klitschko watching him and waiting.

I think he was capeable of a much better showing, but seemed too intimidated. It was a foolish way to fight Vitali.

If he was too aprehensive to jab and attack, the least he could have done was tried to clinch, but instead he just stayed a few feet away, right in Vitali's range, and got picked apart.

He's got heart, but there's a reson why he's not in the spotlight.

He's very incosistant, and McBride proved that Cinderella win over Tyson wasn't as meaningfull as everyone thought.

There's a lot of truth in what you say there. He's got a big heart but he's screwed in the head. He did seem to go into himself mentally there - which has happened before. However, I think he was also badly stunned.

If you wanted to give Danny one of the eight rounds then watch the third again.... minus the last ten seconds. He doesn't too bad there, he even backs Vitali up in the first few minutes.

But no, the height difference really affected him there... he needed a stepladder to get to V's chin that night, and it screwed him up. But he didn't get to show any boxing skill, it was just survival. (And I don't mean "survival" in the negative sense it's sometimes used).


But... if Danny pulled up in his battle bus, would you climb aboard?
