Most Brit fans and writers will tell you he's the real deal. Just never seemed to get the breaks or the luck. He's taken some bad fights over the years.
People are going to look back and acknowledge that the worse side-effect of Oscar's drug addiction was that it messed up his mind enough to think that Alvarez could beat Rhodes.Last edited by Control-; 06-16-2011, 01:14 PM.

I just hope the paucity of paid rounds in the last year doesn't prove any kind of factor. His last few fights that have gone a significant number of rounds, he's looked the business - smart from experience + strong and sharp still physically. I'd like to think that's not a peak and that he'll be an even better Ryan Rhodes for Alvarez.

so what if alvarez is taking a risk? it always happen in boxing. shaefer is nervous because they're setting up the kid as their future cashcow but it's not possible to just let him fight bums and easy fights and expect to build his rep.
