Is Floyd currently the only boxer that is looked at as having the advantage under...

Is Floyd currently the only boxer that is looked at as having the advantage under the same circumstances that any other boxer would have been looked as the underdog/at a disadvantage in the same situation Floyd is in?

Let me make this more clear:

Floyd is in his mid 30s, 10 years older than his next opponent which is the second best at welterweight, and Floyd is coming off a 16 month lay off.

And people see him as the favorite, and as having the advantage.

Floyd came off a 21 month lay off against Marquez, the former Lightweight. Floyd had the size advantage. Okay I can deal with that one, Marquez had the activity on his side, while Floyd had size on his size, although I don't think size matters to be honest.

Mosley came off a 14 month lay off, was 5 years older than Floyd: Floyd had the advantage.

Now Floyd is 34, 10 years older than Ortiz, Ortiz is bigger, more active, Floyd has not fought in 16 months, who has the advantage: Although it's actually Ortiz, some fans say Floyd has the advantage.

I mean, for you to have the advantage under those circumstances, do you know how much of a special fighter do you have to be? You have to be the very best, to still be looked at as the favorite and as having the advantage with all of those important factors against you.

I know this thread will probably not be taken seriously, because I am a known Floyd fan or "*****", and I just look like a giant nutthugger right now,

But to those neutral guys who do not have an agenda against Floyd, give your take on this. Do you agree that Floyd is basically put on a whole different standard than other fighters?

Ortiz is no tune up and is a good choice for Floyd.

What's funny is dude isn't even in his prime and he will more then likely be the fav against manny and Sergio if he should ever fight them.

Most boxers will have advantages and disadvantages in a match up. I don't think Marquez had one advantage over Floyd though.

Ortiz does have a few but Floyd has more.

If Floyd fought Pacquiao, then Pacquiao would have more over Floyd. Also if he fought Martinez.

So you think he should be the underdog?

He probably would be favored against Sergio and Manny. But those are two southpaws, those would be good/even fights imo. Floyd would go through some scary moments especially against Sergio. Just like he went through scary moments against "lesser" fighters like Corley, Judah, and even Mitchell tagged him a couple of times but all three of those fights were "wars" in Floyd terms.

And i think Floyd may go through a little storm, or more than little storm against Ortiz.

Floyd is that good, you can't deny his skills and talent in the ring.
Outside of it, is another story. But this is boxing.
His inactivity is a reason why he's still fresh in the ring. He may be a little rusty but he'll get into his rhythm.
Sure he got hit by a couple bombs by Mosley but he took over and made easy work.

What are Floyd's advantages other than his skills?

I mean Marquez has the skill advantage over Pacquiao, but I don't see Marquez winning. I said size does not matter, but in this case, conditioning does matter, and Marquez's conditioning against Floyd was horrible and I see nothing different this time around.

I don't think this fight will be a "blow out" because of the advantages Ortiz has, like 10 year age advantage, activity, Floyd's 16 month lay off, Ortiz is also a bigger puncher and has what some may call Floyd Kryptonite which is being a southpaw, although he's undefeated against them. Ortiz is arguably the best southpaw Floyd has fought, just a little better than Judah. Definitely Ortiz coming off a Berto win>Judah coming off a Baldomir loss.
