Comments Thread For: British Reaction To Mikkel Kessler’s Comeback

Denmark’s ‘Viking Warrior’ Mikkel Kessler had his first outing in fourteen months when meeting France’s Mehdi Bouadla at the Parken Arena, Denmark earlier tonight. The former WBC and WBA world titleholder picked up the WBO European super-middleweight title courtesy of a dominant sixth round stoppage win.

He lost his 'O' to Calzaghe, not Ward.

Doesnt mean a thing,he's still a fighter who fights in straight lines and Ward whoops his ass any day of the week

Kessler looked impressive, but Kessler will still have issues with someone who's able to move the goal posts imo.

I believe Kessler, like Wlad, is the kind of fighter who's effective when he can calculate what your doing, when your coming in predictably, but that he can be disorganized when you use angles to attack him, or when you follow up your attacks, which is what Ward did.

Someone who has a few wrinkles to their game, who can use head movement to create angles to punch off, and has a bit of ring generalship, will still give him problems imo.

Kessler is good, but he's only good at what he's good at, when you start to exploit the fact he attacks in straight lines, has never seen an angle in his life, can be disorganized when you follow up your attacks, he can look predictable imo.

Kessler too readable, too conventional imo, he will still have success, cause he's a strong man, a straight puncher, who uses the jab, but he will have issues with aforementioned imo.

It's good to have Kessler back. Let's hope Bute grows a set and takes him on.

imo Bute will fight Froch before Kessler. Froch's defense leaves him wide open for Bute. Kessler would be a bit tougher nut to crack, but Bute would still get the job done.

It was a good performance, but it was something he was supposed to do, given his opposition. Still, I'm glad to be able to breath a sigh of relief that he was able to pull it off so convincingly. His left looked incredibly sharp, especially when he was doubling and tripling it up, but his right was a bit sloppy and a bit slappy as well. His footwork was a little off. Kessler used to have some of the best footwork in the game, and used to dart in and out and from side to side with ease. Whether that's age or rustiness showing up I don't know, but if I was him that's what I'd focus on. Hopefully his eye holds up and he fights someone decent in the near future... and wins!
