Comments Thread For: Photos: Amir Khan, Alex Ariza Reunited at The Wild Card

WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan has reunited with strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza of the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California. Ariza was not in the corner of Khan (25-1, 17 knockouts) for last month's sixth-round, technical decision victory over Irish southpaw Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KOs). Until then, Ariza had worked alongside trainer Freddie Roach with Khan for six fights, having joined Khan following his first-round knockout loss to Breidis Prescott in September of 2008, after which Khan went 6-0, with four knockouts. A former Olympic silver medalist, Khan was trained by Michael Vale for McCloskey after having removed Ariza following December's unanimous decision victory over then-interim WBO junior welteweight belt-holder, Marcos Rene Maidana (30-2, 27 KOs).

To me it's interesting that Ariza would suddenly again be "buddy-buddy" with the guy he more or mess made, who ditched him and, as he asserts, broke into his room to steal his contract back. it shows me the hypocricy and double dealing of boxing and, possible, in general of American business. Although i suppose it's not just confined to America.

Yet, in my day, this cosying up together of people with the history of these two, would have been regarded as unethical and frowned on.

By the way, and off the topic, thhe top photo shows, seemingly, that Khan is, sort of, knock-kneed, as is David Haye. I wonder if it helps their punching power.

Much has always been made of Bob Fitzsomons' huge power, and that his knock knees helped. I've seen it written many times, by different analysts and experts.

        Just a comment.

Of course I meant to write, "more or less". Sorry.

Is there anyone else wanting to make a bety on either or both of the Klitschko fights? If so, please PM me.

I dont see how you can tell he is knock-kneed from that picture when the test for knock knees is done by standing with feet close together....

Not neccessarily. it just makes it more obvious. But just look at the first picture and you'll see the oblique direction the leg takes, from the knee down.

You otherwise make a good point. I've seen many pictures of Fitzsimons and never was able to see the knock kneed appearance, although in virually EVERY description of him, and almost every article this attribute is emphasised.

I was more or less thinking "out loud".

Good for them especially Amir cause he didn't look good at his last fight.
