    hmm

You can't take away from a great old fighter that keeps on fighting and eventually loses.

We can throw these "legacy" terms around if we want but the bottom line is, it is FOUL to knock Roy down the all-time totem pole (or Hopkins) based on recent things.

In that case, Ali should not be top 3 at heavyweight all time since he lost to Spinks and Holmes.

      hmm

And I'm not the only one who says this shouldn't tarnish his legacy. Plenty of people have said the same on other threads.

A very scant number of world champions leave boxing having won all of their last few fights.

Louis, Ali, Holmes, Robinson, Hagler, Arguello, Gomez, Benitez... they all lost their last ones.

But boxing history speaks kindly of their legacy.

It is a boxing truism that fighters often do not know when to stop (do I hear the name, "Holyfield?"). Only Rocky Marciano--among top-shelf fighters-- left boxing with a clean slate. But, gladly, not only Rocky's legacy is cited as the highwater mark of boxing.

Roy's legacy is secure (although, there shall always be some who'd criticize it, as there are some who criticize the legacies of many of the great ones). At this point, it is Tarver who is still trying to secure his.

I think this is an unbelievably tough question!

If Roy comes out and wins impressively you might as well erase Antonio Tarver, if he is ko'd brutally for the third fight in a row, well yes he is old but what all time great was ko'd brutally in his last 3 fights?

Roy just got done winning the HW crown, he wasnt Ali vs. Spinks or Holmes, **** I went and watched him fight live against Woods in Oregon and he looked like Superman.

Again this is a tough question to answer, hell I think there is no right or wrong way to go here, yes it does affect his legacy and no it shouldnt effect his legacy, hell I dont know?

I do know that Roy said whoever wins this fight is the better man and if that is indeed the case then yes it at least in Roy's mind effects his legacy.

This is a tough one guys!

i dont think future losses damage jones legacy he is not the type of fighter who can revive career from ashes he relied on great speed reflexes & enough power to keep fighter away from weak chin speed & reflexes are the first to go with age & jones has aged
