Bute is sharp. I say he's easier to beat by decision but he is southpaw and hits hard. Could be a bad night if he catches Bernard. The train has to end sometime guys.

hopkins/dawson would be good for him, but not great. pascal beat dawson, bhops beat pascal. either way, it'd be a good fight for him because dawson is basically the next ranked fighter after pascal. i'd like to see him take on cloud and cleverly next year if possible

Probably, but he's a bigger threat. Dawson couldn't hurt Hopkins and Bernard knows it.

Bute could. A good body attack could be the key to beating B-Hop. Bute has an excellent body attack.

No, Bute is better. The only reason Pascal ever had the belt was because Dawson had an off night. He's way too wild and gasses out. No real form.
Froch took him to school and he's no Joe Calzaghe.

who's to say bute would even fight bernard, has he even expressed any interest? He's content fighting bums until the super six is over, and why wouldn't he? he's getting paid good money to do so.

I wanted bute vs hopkins for the simple fact I thought it would be more exciting. Dawson vs Hopkins will likely be a technical chess match. No one can say bute would be a tougher opponent for hopkins, that's just crazy to say being that Andrade is the best opponent to date whereas Dawson has beat Adamek, Johnson, Tarver and had a tough fight with Pascal. Obviously Dawson is more proven, bute is unproven. The style match up I personally believe will be a lot more challenging for hopkins to beat a guy like dawson at this stage in his career, compared to a guy like bute who I believe hopkins would confuse, frustrate and intimidate quite easily.

Isnt this what you give Pac ***** for?

              Just saying.
when has he ever looked good??? i've never gotten any excitement or been wow'd by a dawson fight.........

              are you crazy?
is dawson going to out work hopkins? or out slick him? is dawson going to out slug hopkins? and work him over because hopkins is going to stand right in his range all night long??? like all the lessor or battle worn fighters dawson has fought? dawson is ordinary and has been hyped up as extraordinary, when in fact hopkins is extraordinary......... hopkins is multifaceted, dawson not that much. hopkins can change gears, i've only seen one gear from dawson......

hopkins throughout his career has DOMINATED southpaws...... dawson isn't bringing anything new or different in being a southpaw that hopkins hasn't already beaten once before.......

if dawson was a high output fighter who has been walking through everyone he's fought and hasn't regressed like he has been, then i would say that dawson is a threat, unless he catches lightening in a bottle, he's not going to beat hopkins......... it's at least safe to say, he's not trending that way.....

i'm thinking the same, dawson is physically capable, but i don't think he has it together enough to beat hopkins...... the formula that seems to win against hopkins ( useless non landing punching in non scoring areas with high volume of misses ) has been set.......(taylor, calzaghe) the only discrepancy i have and see is dawson doesn't fight in high volumes like taylor or calzaghe did making it hard for him to look like an effective aggressor.........

dawson would have to change up his whole style and tactic, because if he's not taking it to hopkins, he loses...... he has to go and take the champs belt, and i don't see dawson being able to pull that off.... no one looks good against hopkins, now that people aren't flat out hating on hopkins as much, i think it's going to be harder for someone to shoe shine on him or get a gift decision on him now.......

unless dawson can hurt hopkins and have him in defensive mode all fight long, he aint winning a round in their fight......... hopkins by wide UD...

Now because of this post I can't wait for Dawson-Hopkins.

Dawson is gonna prove you wrong, you make him out to be a bad fighter, he is bad, but as in Bad Chad. Him and Steward won't take Hopkins lightly, Dawson is gonna come with his A game and decision Hopkins in a clear win, I predict. It'll be hard for him to get credit though, due to Hopkins age.

Any one who fights Hopkins at this point is in a lose-lose situation. Hopkins has the age factor to fall back on if he loses, and if he wins he furthers his legacy as an old man beating young top fighters. If his opponent wins, they beat an old man, if his opponent loses, they weren't all that to begin with and they were tailor made for Hopkins.

Hopkins is in a very comfortable spot, that he earned.

Chad has looked pretty bad in his last two fights. Good win, but he has had better wins earlier in his career.

There are some SMWs that I would rank as better wins at LHW, then Dawson at the moment.

Considering that Dawson has a higher work-rate than Hopkins, there is a possibility that he can outwork Hopkins.

Hopkins has the work-rate of a grandpa, it will be Hopkins who needs to step up his work-rate. Also you are underestimating Dawson's boxing skills. Dawson is not someone you can easily hit, he's very good defensively. If you think Hopkins will beat Dawson the same way he beat Pascal, you are sadly mistaken. Dawson doesn't need to catch lightning in a bottle, because he has all the tools to beat Hopkins, and he hits hard enough that you can't just simply eat his punches. Ask Tarver that, ask Glen Johnson that (who have good beards btw).

There is even a possibly that Dawson can get Hopkins out of there, if he fought like he did against Adamek. We'll see, but from what I can tell, I think Dawson outworks to him decision.

A lot of these so called boxing experts and Hopkins fans are overestimating his abilities, and his physical skills have greatly been on the decline.

Oh and Hopkins can't change gears, he's 46 years old, the opponents he's beaten fought at his pace. If you think Dawson isn't multifaceted than you haven't seen any of his fights.
