Current crop of African-American fighters have no "swag"

    Agree or disagree.

Not only are they hated on for their "careful, balletic" performances. But, they just don't have the same swag the likes of Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones Jr. those guys had what you call that aura of invincibility. Today's black fighters have an aura of "studio gangsters", and the one leading the way is the infamous Wifebeater.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has as much of an aura of invincibility as almost anyone ever.

Ward -- the boxer who I'm assuming was the inspiration behind this thread -- is too young to have developed that aura yet, but I having a feeling he may do in time. He's a consummate professional and seems to have a healthy dose of grit to compliment his Gold-winning skills, so the sky is his limit.

It's unfair to compare current day boxers to sportsmen of the magnitude of Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler just on the basis of their skin colour. It's a wildly unrealistic standard to hold fighters to -- Sugar Ray and Marvelous Marvin just had the X-Factor. There is scarcely twenty boxers in the history of the sport who can be compared to them.

i dunno that i agree entirely BUT watching some of these guys going for decision points wins as their (seemingly) MAIN objective is pretty boring. kinda like the mma wrestlers and their lay/pray-wall/stall stuff... not exciting at all.

Nah, I've never heard the media ever calling a top-echelon fighter with high-winning % or undefeated record a coward, I'm sorry, but, i don't recall them calling Tyson a coward when he was undefeated, I've never heard them call RJJ a chicken when he went on a 34 and 0 run.

F**k, do any of you recall anyone calling Ali a coward even when he already had losses on his wonderful, illustrious resume ?

The fact that Wifebeater has been labeled a coward by the media and boxing fans all over the world tells you they don't find him to be invincible, just another ch*cken ****, loud-mouth black american !

LOL, now in order for an african-american to be considered a good fighter, he has to have swag.

              You people are pitiful.

                  Of course, it's expected.

Blame the past great black fighters for having so much swag and heart. Today's black fighters might as well be considered caucasian, because their style is vanilla.
