Not saying I liked his performance in the Pac fight but he isn't a bad fighter at all. I bet the offer was like 75K or something for the Cintron fight.
Originally posted by D.I.E.S.E.L View PostWtf does he mean it was too low? If its too low, fight your way back up and prove your worth watching. Why should you get paid good money to cover up for 12 rounds?
He has a hell of a lot to prove to the fans before he starts demanding he's worth more than he showed in his last fight. He needs to prove that Pacquiao was the exception and not the rule. And, in hopes that he would try to prove that, I think the Cintron fight would be a good one. Now all Joshua has to do is go out there and prove it. It's always seemed silly to me when boxers don't fight because they want more money, when there's no one else beating on their door for a fight. Some is definately better then none when you don't have any other options. Especially when he needs to prove to the fans and himself that he's worth it in the first place.

The Turtle has a lot of nerve
Been living like king off his Pacquiao hold up in Ghana, hasn't fought in more time than the vacation king and hasn't won a fight in years. Not to mention he has no real fan base to speak of. But now he wants to get paid the big bucks?
Watch out for potholes, clown

I will actually prefer to pay $50 to NOT have to watch you fight.
It is a joke that Kermit the Frog has more credibility than you.
Stay home you bum.

If he hadn't of pulled his usual dead beat ending, he might have takin that fight. Whether people want to admit it or not (or they clearly had not watched Clottey fight prior to the Cotto fight), he'd always been a good competitive fighter - up until the Pac fight - which is what made that whole thing seem so odd. I personally think that's a testament to how good Pac is, others think that means it was a fixed fight, so to each their own. IMO he was beating Margarito until he (supposively) broke his hand, he was beating Baldomir before being disqualified, he was completely in the Cotto fight, and he beat Judah pretty soundly. That being said, Clottey brought this current mess on himself.
Clottey has always seemed to have an extremely high opinion of himself, deeming himself worth more then he actually is, and he's never given any fighter credit for beating him, other than Pacquiao. While I agree with you that Clottey needs to prove he's worth being paid better money (and it makes Clottey sound pretty ridiculous), I don't think there's a reason to believe that he wouldn't be competitive again against anyone not named Pacquiao. Clottey made an ass out of himself, and then made excuses and played the 'poor me' 'don't talk about Pacquiao no more' card. The thing is in Clotteys previous fights, although he was already known for his turtle shell defense, he was always game and competitive. He's never used that shell defense to the extent he did in the Pac fight and I don't think that means that he always will in the future. His problem has always been mental fortitude in the later rounds of his other fights.

Then again I've always thought Cotto was a glorified Gatti. The one thing I've always wondered is how big of a star Cotto would have been if Arum would have allowed Cotto to fight Mayweather back when he was 140.

yeah, after that showing against pac he should accept anything,he's a nobody now, nobody talks about him,he's lucky they are even considering him as an opponent and should just take the fight, although i would rather see cintron against somebody else, all i'm going to see is clottey with a high guard and not throwing anything in return
