honestly IMO this is what I would do

if JMM ends up with TR

offer a JMM vs Bradley fight (assuming he doesn't sign with GBP) in July with the winner to fight Manny in November. That's two big fights and a chance at 5 division titles (140 with Bradley and 147ish with Pacquiao)

if he ends up back with Golden Boy

offer him a shot at Maidana then a chance at Ortiz. Two not as big fights but at least is a guaranteed salary against arguably easier competition and it's still a shot at 5 division titles (Maidana at 140 and Ortiz at 147)

anyways, if true, this is a good counter, since they have the right to match, Top Rank isn't in any position to just take Marquez away from them. Golden Boy keeps there guy and feeds him to Ortiz...which isn't that bad of a fight really (financial aspects aside) - sure Marquez is not a welter, and Ortiz might rehydrate a lot more than Pacquiao would have (not good for Marquez), but Marquez is still a very smart fighter, disciplined, not in his prime but I think he can make an entertaining fight of it. In the end or the idea for GB/HBO, Ortiz gains in popularity by defeating a HOF in Marquez.

why is GBP interested in putting JMM as a welter?

1. cause GBP screws with TR's plans
2. GBP gets to feed Ortiz a big name opponent
3. Ortiz has no chance of losing

I'm just wondering if HBo will pay for this mismatch. I mean GBP won't put down their own money to make this fight happen so it will all be on HBO...

also, the ppv revenue won't for jmm/ortiz won't nearly be as good as the revenue jmm will get for pac/jmm... i wonder if that can be a basis for jmm to not take the fight.

how come marquez or GBP do not propose a judah fight? isn't jmm looking for a 4th belt? plus it'll move him up in weight instead of trying to go from 135 to WW. marquez can fight judah and even maidana, his contract will surely expire by then. it ends in early 2012 right?
