Watching fights in HD is my preference. If I have to pocket some cash for it so be it.

I respect that you think it's a bull**** fight. The honest truth is that it is.

I'll watch it anyway because I love boxing regardless of the significance or historical importance.

If supporting fights makes you think I'm a casual, then I'll accept it and watch the action comfortably with an adequate entertainment system.
I get where you're coming from.

Manny's out of our(hardcores) hands. It's to the point or getting there, where casual fans just want to see him perform the same way people would go to see a musician. It's almost like when Mike Tyson was advertised as this ferocious beast and everyone was interested if it was true or not. With Pac he's advertised as this tasmanian-devil in the ring, but a kid outside of it. A good portion of the millions that followed Tyson in those days were more interested in just seeing him in action and how he was gonna rip apart the man in front of him. It's not to that level yet, but it's getting there with Manny.

These types of fights are for the casuals and corporate America. Corporate America needs to see that boxing can generate excitement and a following again.

I'm glad that you brought up aspects of being a casual fan. I personally feel that being a hardcore fan sometimes contributes negatively to how we enjoy the sport. When we get in too deep, we lose sight of the reason we first got into the sport. In the beginning we were just amazed to see two athletes fight amazingly and we just wanted to see more of that. We didn't care to think how this fighter or this fight was reflected in the history of the sport. Who cares, it was just fuc.kin awesome to watch boxing.

man the hate is totally biased and ******ed.
It's like Cliff says in his fight prediction in another thread, Shane is ranked only because the division is in sort of a "starting over" period. Its rebuilding. If you want to walk through all of the weight classes to see all the people ranked highly that dont deserve it we can do that as well. I will grant you that the fighters Pac has faced have been ranked well. But ask yourself why they were, and if there were better fights to be made. Surely the best fighter in the world can find people to fight that arent coming off of losses right?

Sure Pac could fight unbeaten people, but people would still discredit Pac, so who is Pac doing it for? To please who?
Sergio Martinez isnt coming off a loss, but dont doubt his loss to Margarito would be bought up if Pac beat Sergio.
He wants Floyd but Floyd dont want it, so who is Pac supposed to fight?

I'm going to stream the hell out of this bull**** fight. With a garbage ass undercard.

Whoever buys this event is a damn fool, who's more of a fan of a particular fighter, then actual fan of the sport.

And, I'm not even a Floyd fan either. That lady Gaga watching, Beiber supporting, vacation taking, **** suspect can stay retire as well.
sheesh the sport is better with Manny than without, anybody who disagrees with that is 'the damn fool' if somebody wants to buy this PPV who are you to say that means they are not a fan of the sport? - nobody thats who - you got two of boxing's great modern era fighters going at it and sure one is a bit over the hill but would you rather moan and ***** and have no fight at all? ... how about you get off your high horse and enjoy a major boxing event that is helping to keep the sport alive and in the media instead of claiming that people who are looking forward to this are not 'actual fans of the sport.' - if everybody had your attitude and nobody bought this event or any other non once a decade pac v floyd type superfights guess what would happen smartass? ..... Boxing would die overnight thats what.

Just cos you have a overwhelming favourite and an underdog dont mean its not a proper event. Thats the way it is. Most people are going to be expected to lose to Pac anyway, so why is SSM any differnetnt?

The Alis of this world were favourite against most people he fought, and are we saying we shouldnt have watched Ali against the henry coopers of this world?

First off, Pac should be wanting to clean out and beat the best in his division. Regardless of how Shane is ranked, he is not one of the best anymore. He is on his way out and in a big hurry. Fighting unbeaten fighters proves that you are up for the risks that come from trying to beat someone who has never been beaten. Sure Martinez lost to Margarito, but if people think that green version of Martinez is the same fighter as he is now then they arent even people allowed into the discussion. Thats like saying "Well Pac was beat a couple times by nobodies when he was younger" since Sergio got a late start and was still green when Margarito got him. It would be a slaughter if that fight happened now. And people also need to realise that Pac is going to do similar numbers regardless of who he fights. Pac has become the event now, so he can get the same numbers fighting lesser known people, who many view as more dangerous. Sergio would be great, Khan would be great, JMM at a proper weight (or not at all) would be great, Ortiz would be great. There are several guys who, while not as proven as Shane (see old), actually bring in the risk. Sure Pac would likely destroy Ortiz, but he is still young and hungry enough that we cant say that for sure, where we basically can with a vet like Shane. He has been around long enough to know what you are gonna get (and each day he gets slower). These new kids, they are still getting better. They would prove that Pac is willing to fight to prove himself against anyone, rather then just the biggest name Arum has in his stable that he is willing to sacrifice for a pay day. Like Cliff said in his write up for this fight, Shane isnt a serious challenge, but there are fighters coming up that will be much stronger challenges for Manny in a year or two. Those are the fighters I mentioned.

yeah according to the logic of some of the twats around here anybody who has ever watched Ali fighting Cooper are not fans of the sport just fans of ali
