IBF FEELING THE HEAT!

IBF RESPONSE TO MONDAY COLUMN MERITS RESPONSE!
As many of you are now aware, The International Boxing Federation has issued an official statement as regards my Monday column calling for the resignation of their President, Marian Muhammad. While it is flattering that they would take the time to issue a two page, single spaced response, I would have appreciated a single response to my central argument. My argument?
JOHNSON & ZOFF, THE TWO WORLD’S BEST, NOT!
That the organization was inept in ranking Leavander Johnson and Stefano Zoff as their two top available contenders earlier this year for the IBF lightweight belt, and that such an action played a significant role in the current tragic circumstances surrounding Johnson’s injuries suffered in his title defense Saturday versus Jesus Chavez.
UNLIKE IBF, I ADMIT WHEN I WAS WRONG!
IBF Public Relations Director Ricardo Salazar, the attributed author of the press release, points out what he feels are errors in my piece Monday. Strictly speaking, he is correct and so I will at this time correct and retract from those statements (and I’m doing it off the top unlike most folks who bury errors on their back page). He makes the claim that Julio Diaz was not stripped for taking a fight with the man then recognized as the World’s best lightweight (Jose Luis Castillo) instead of facing Johnson, the mandatory. This is true…to an extent.
