Comments Thread For: Juanma: Salido Rematch The Last Fight at 126-Pounds

Former champion Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27KOs) is hoping the rematch with Orlando Salido will happen before the end of the year. On Saturday night in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Lopez was shocked in eight rounds when Salido stopped him. Salido picked up Juanma's WBO featherweight title and according a recent story on krikya360.com the Mexican boxer is planning to make his first defense on Mexican soil in July.

That's what I was thinking, that he should make the Salido rematch his last fight at 126.

Goldenboy wouldve never let this happen

Juanma just needs a REAL promoter. Goldenboy is run by a star fighter who has been World Champion not by some money hungry shark who's never competed in his life who knows nothing about fighters mentalities. Fighting for Top Stank is like going to war for draft dodging GWB Jr.

There is no ****ing way Lopez weighed anything close to 180 or 190 lbs. He very well may have had weight issues but 190, what a joke. Enough of the excuses, I knew it was only a matter of time for Lopez. He gets rocked easily and isn't a defensive fighter.

Juanma should think twice about a rematch with salido.A second loss to
salido would be a big setback. These wars hes been in is taking its toll
it seems. He should come take a easy fight next,Then fight ricky burns.
It would be a big fight in new york.

If Juanma did have weight issues hopefully he will learn from this loss and maintain himself between fights

It sounds like you are blaming Bob Arum for Juanma looking like crap and getting KO'd. Juanma has always stated "I will fight anyone the promoter puts in front of me" and he has. It is Arums job to get Juanma fights and once Juanma signs the contract, it's up to Juanma to do his job in the ring. GBP is not perfect. They got Ortiz to sign to fight Maidana and we all know what happened in that fight. The only problem with Arum is he waited to long for the undefeated showdown between Gamboa vs. Lopez. Gamboa has taken care of everyone put in front of him, unfortunately, Juanma didn't do his job, whether it was slacking off in training, training just to lose weight, his divorce, etc. Whatever it was, he didn't look good and he paid for it..

Juanma doesn't need a new promoter, he needs a new trainer. Maybe, if Juanma can put his ego aside (now that he has been humbly KO'd), he could talk with Emanuel Steward and train alongside Cotto. Steward has done a good job of making Cotto better and he might be able do to the same with Juanma.

Bottom line is that juanmarica just aint that good. Some people will just have to deal with that. Son would get schooled by gamboa, caballero and john. Period. He needs to continue to feast on B level fighters if he can.
