I find it funny how people keep blaming the trainer. JuanMa let his fame get to him. Since he got spoonfed he always thought it was going to be easy. You just don't see the hunger he had with Ponce as he did with Salido. You could tell with Ponce he looked focused and determined.

I didn't see the Showtime one, I saw ANOTHER post-fight interview with a spanish-speaking man.

He was slurring A LOT. Sounds really punch drunk. He took a lot of unnecesarry punishment that night.
Yeah but that was because he had his lips swollen so he couldnt talk straight.

I think he got too carried away with those losses on Salido's record. He figured easy work. He did look dead and his punches looked heavy and slow. He needs to learn to tuck that chin into his chest and not stand straight up with his chin out. He looked flat in the ring and got his ass beat down.

Whatever his name agrees with you I hate racists and bigots nearly as much as I hate ignorance. When you get it all together in one dirty little package, it's just sick-making.

Juanma looked sluggish by the fourth, he should forget the rematch, let Salido have his glory and move up to try and beat better opposition than Salido.

Salido was boxing beautifully in that fight. Juanma was just in over his head. He was talking all this knocking Salido out early crap, so he was definitely ready to fight but just got beat. Lopez was swinging and missing while Salido was slipping and sliding. I was impressed. I bet you if Lopez would have won, his supporters would have been praising how dominate he is but since he lost, something had to have been wrong with him? Dude lost and I think he will lose again in a rematch. Looked like Salido had his number. Gamboa would have beat Lopez up and finished him early if they fought first.

NOW, picture an "egg in a glass of water" - gotta shake that same glass A LOT harder to break the egg. this is what ur brain is like when deprived and drained of fluids.
I must say I like that analogy, and the first thing that sprung right into my mind was that this may be the solution to what's wrong with so many BoxingScene posters. Their brains are dehydrated, and rattling around.

The only thing against that hypothesis is that from what they say, and how they say it, they most often sound "sloshed"....as in "boozed up...", that they are TOO hydrated.....

Unless he learns defense, the outcome will be the same. I remember telling my wife (during the second round of the fight) how Juanma was having a very Cotto-Margarito-esque performance and allowing himself to be hit alot more than he should have. The K.O. was inevitable and, had the ref not stoppped the fight, he would have gotten K.O'd in that same round or in Rd 9. I waited for Juanma to pull off a Tito Trinidad-like performance and rise from the canvas to K.O Salido but, unfortunately for Juanma that was not the case. Props to Salido 'cause he fought the right fight at the right time. Juanma... better luck (and defense) next time... You'll need it!

Whether he took Salido lightly is debatable, but the fact that Lopez couldn't make any adjustments in the fight worries me. Lopez got hit with some major bombs.

And besides defense, his punches looked sluggish and without the pop that I'm used to seeing Lopez throw.

I think Salido just might be a bad match up for him, but Juanma deserves the benefit of the doubt. He may or may not have been weight drained or distracted by issues outside the ring, but he took a beating regardless.

I hope a rematch is made.
