If you look at the stoppage in the context of the preceeding 15s, it is a bit weak. JuanMa was rocked badly but still upright and still throwing back, even if his punches had nothing on them.

However, in the context of the fight, it was a very good stoppage. For several rounds, JuanMa's head movement (what little there was to begin with) had evaporated. Salido's accuracy was getting higher and higher and JuanMa was a sitting duck, eating solid power punch after solid power punch. He had, overall, lost the ability to defend himself. Just because he was attempting to punch and still on two feet does not mean he was in much of a position to continue. The KO was looking inevitable and Salido was looking very, very strong.

If you fight without a guard and without head movement, you're just inviting the referee to stop the fight as soon as you lose your reflexes and your ability to hurt your opponent. Both were long gone for JuanMa.

Yes, very pathetic. The sooner you digest it, the less pathetic you will look. Your fighter was man enough to do it, follow his example.

You know Margarito was still throwing punches against Pacquiao, the whole fight, right? I understand there is a pride thing in boxing, but someone has to step in for the fighter's own good. He could have avoided a lot of damage if the ref or the corner would have stopped the fight. Nothing is more important than a fighter's health.

LOL still on your feet and attempting to throw is the exact definition of a position to continue.

A Berto KO win was inevitable too how did that turn out.

I am glad you prefer to see a good fight at the fighter's expense. Please understand that a fighter's safety is most important. He can get over this loss. Ask certain fighters if they've gotten over their brain damage as a result of fights getting stopped too late or taking too much punishment for their own good.

ALWAYS...... I'm not a ref and even I know that.

Ref should've given Juanma the option to go out on his shield.
And never be the same again? What do you think the ref is there for? Did you happen to see how many times Juanma was hit flush? He was beginning to feel the punches more and more too. Good stoppage. He would never stop fighting but the last thing we need is another Margarito-Cotto beating. The ref did his job.
