LOL @ Froch trying to buy things his way. Some here say they should do it in Nottingham because the crowd will be bigger - I'm sure in a tournament as important as this for all the fighters careers, the last thing some of them care about is size of the crowd versus a neutral venue. I mean really, let's say Johnson agrees to fight in Nottingham and he looses by outlandish hometown judges scoring... do you really think he would look back and say "I lost to a B.S. hometown decision, but hey look what a great crowd was there." Uh, no. Judges are already known to give a close decision to Johnsons opponent time and time again - perhaps because of his record, who knows. But to me, this is is so typical Carl "I'll quit if" Froch, who has resulted now in trying to pay $$$ to get his way. Sorry Rome, I know Froch is your dude, but I think this kind of thing is the exact reason why so many dislike Froch. "I'll quit if I have to fight in Germany", "I'll quit if I don't get a private jet", "Poor me, Poor me, Poor me...", and now "I'll pay to have things in my favor". Except for Ward (which I am not saying is right), everyone has had the exact same situation throughout the tourney, but you don't hear them constantly crying about it and acting like they deserve more than the others. That's why the rules get laid out BEFORE the tournament starts (although we can all agree they should have had ALL the fights at neutral venues) so everyone knows what to expect before hand. When Froch fought Taylor in the U.S. and won he was asked if he was afraid before hand of fighting in a hostile (hometown) environment, and he said 'No, I'm a true champion and I've proved that I can go anywhere and still come out with the win' - however when he fought Kessler, and before the scores were even announced, he said to Rachel 'Those bastards are going to give him the hometown decision'. Carl knows how important it is to fight in Nottingham, with case in point - Froch versus Dirrell (in Nottingham) close fight goes to Froch, Froch versus Kessler (not in Nottingham) close fight goes to Kessler. Froch might just as well say "Showtime, I'll buy the decision against Johnson in Nottingham for $250K". That would be round 1 to Froch, especially for Johnsons hard luck track record for loosing close decisions that should have gone his way.
Too bad Johnson probably won't even fight it being in Nottingham. I see Glen "The Road Warrior" Johnson as being the "true champion", as he has literally fought his fights all around the world, and unfortunately he came up with some bad decisions. But, you don't hear him b1tching about it....
/ End rant.
