I think he's been lifting heavy and eating. He's bulked up in muscle but it doesn't look tight because he's lifting heavy weights for mass. Once he starts training hard,he will lose the weight with no problem and be ripped as usual. Plus, he will keep his power. I think he and his team has it all figured out.

Plus, gaining and dropping so much weight like that is NOT healthy. Why these fighters don't stick to fighting near their natural weight class is beyond me. He should be a Jr. Middleweight fighter, rather than even Welter. I wouldn't be surprised if Bradley is around 160 for the 30-day weigh in (just like Victor Ortiz).

Bradley is a professional athlete and could lose more weight without harming himself, but what's the point of losing 4 pounds per week? He's a pro boxer and most likely has a high ratio of muscle mass to fat, so if he loses the amount you just said he's going to lose muscle mass and his metabolism is going to be slower than it normally is. There's no point in losing such amounts of weight when he can easily maintain an extremely high basal metabolic rate and just adjust his calorie intake to lose around 1 pound per week.
So in other words, that number is not bull****. You can lose 10 pounds in a week if you want and you're going to feel like crap. Try losing 4 pounds per week for 1 month, that's 16 pounds and at least 3 or 4 pounds of that are going to be muscle. There's a reason to lose just 1 or 2 pounds per week, so you can actually lose a very high % of body fat while maintaining muscle mass.

Sorry to break it to you -- but most fighters DO NOT do this. They typically only begin to shed those pounds at the start of training camp. Not really before. Victor Ortiz shed 13 pounds within 30 days just to make 147 for the Mayweather fight. And what Ortiz did is common. Take a look at other name fighters, from Brandon Rios to Chavez Jr., it is all the same if not worse. In their cases, it is even worse. These fighters are not so disciplined like you assume.

Chavez Jr gets huge when he's not at training camp and has to lose a massive amount of water weight in order to get down to 160. This should affect massively a boxer's performance and yet he fights like he wasn't dehydrated on the next day, that's very su****ious.
Rios wasn't even able to get down to 135, he was completely weight drained and still was 1 1/2 pounds above the limit. What I can say about Rios is that even though he won via KO, his performance clearly showed that he was affected by dehydration. He had some clear ups and downs during the fight and it was obvious that he wasn't at 100%.
Now what I was truly stating is that if Bradley is 160-170 right now, getting down to 147 is easy if proper training is done. Several guys here think that he's going to be massive on fight night and that right now he's extremely heavy. He's not, he could easily make 147 without having to completely dehydrate his body like Jr does.
Bradley's fight against Pacquiao is certainly the biggest fight of his career, and I'm pretty sure that he's going to have a 6-8 week training camp, not a 4-6 week training camp, so even if he gets to training camp at aroud 165, he can easily lose 8-12 by just losing a little more than 1 pound per week. There's no need to lose 3-4 pounds per week because there's still a lot of time left till the fight. If he gets down to 153 then goal accomplished, since he's going to have to lose just around 3-4% of water weight to make the 147 weight limit.
BTW what Rios and Jr do is EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY!Last edited by vacon04; 02-22-2012, 04:10 AM.

I'm not arguing that it won't be easy for Bradley to make weight. I agree that he will make the weight. What he's doing though, these significant gains and losses, I don't think is cool. I mean, this guy used to fight even at 140. Can you imagine him being 165 and having to shed all the way to 140? And then gaining all that weight back each time shortly afterwards? *shakes head*
In any case, I think Bradley will win this fight.
