This reminds me of an analogy growing up and going to school in the Philippines that would maybe bring some insight to the psychology of this situation. I am sure most of the Pinoys (maybe even Pacquiao himself) on here that grew up in the Philippines are familiar with this. In the school yards when someone did something offensive to another person to a level that provokes intervention, before any blows are even thrown, the two parties involved are put face to face to air out their differences. If nothing is resolved by words or an immediate altercation, a third party intervenes and provokes a reaction. He asks the offending Party to touch the other guys ears to see how the other guy reacts. If there is no reaction, the guy who had his ear touched is asked to do the same or maybe even something more drastic, like to squeeze the other guys nose. This is done until someone either yields by walking away, apologizing, or throwing the first punch. I have been through that situation many times as a kid growing up and throwing the first punch was always on my mind although I did not always do that in fear of the consequences of getting in to something I can't get out of without really getting the full satisfaction I needed; If someone stole from me, I may have not have gotten my money back, or an appology, etc. In time, I had learned the the more satisfying alternative was to have an older, more mature, more responsible individual be the third party if I wanted a true resolution, which was more than just wanting my money back if that was the case or a hand shake if someone was talking smack about my mom, etc. because many times it was deeper than just that, it was personal. It doesn't mean I did not think about throwing that punch or even ****ing my hand back or clenching my fist.
I gave that example out just to separate you from your bias a little bit and perch that you view this situation from. The Mayweathers have insulted Manny, slandered his name and continue to do so. They got personal with Manny. Was it natural for a million thoughts to course through Manny's head about how to react? Is it possible for Manny to have reacted without really assessing the situation and have changed his mind later on? Pacquiao clenched his fists and ****ed back when Mayweather had his ear but decided not to throw the punch. This is more than just about Money, there are many things involved, Pacquiao can't just react, he has to think what the best way is to get his satisfaction. Manny chose the high road, instead of squeezing Mayweather in the nose, he chose to have a more responsible party intervene.
