after Friday's fight the consensus amongst his team was that after April 9th he will take more time between fights to learn more from Kenny Adams his new trainer. They all thought he looked sluggish and a bit flat but think it's due more to him focusing on keeping weight down than actually learning.
yeah I think that's a good idea, you could tell he was forcing things in his last fight.
taking two fights in 13 days is unheard of though these days, and I think internet warriors don't understand what that means.
Adams is a great trainer, I have no doubt he'll improve Kirkland's game.
everyone on his team laughs at the notion of him fighting a top tier guy soon.
he needs tons of work to undo the stuff he has ingrained into his style
right, I don't know why all the Martinez stans constantly come in a James Kirkland and say "Martinez would destroy him, he's garbage" lol dude just spent 2 years in prison and had two fights in two weeks. It's going to take time to get back to where he was before he got locked up. I mean his two fights were at 163 he's not even in his best shape yet.

I'm actually pulling for him to suceed, but that gibbs fight was misleading.
I just checked out his fight against Berrio and his ring rust was apparent. I also didn't like the type of punches Berrio was landing on James (short hooks) and if that was a bigger puncher, like Angulo or Martinez, Kirkland would have got KO'd.
