Joe Calzaghe deserves credit for beating Bernard Hopkins, although over 40 years old, he was still a top 5 LHW, and considered in the Top 10 P4P by The Ring. He also proved after that fight he isn't shot, or close to it.
So he gets credit for that fight, well, from me atleast.
However the orginial and actual argument was, Roy Jones Jr on the other hand, which is the exact opposite. A fight in which Joe Calzaghe deserves no credit for.

Yes,let's give credit to 28 year old man for spending two third's of a fight running away from an old man.He wasn't boxing,he was literally running away in order to avoid exchanges with a man old enough to be his father.
Quite possibly the most gutless performance in a world title fight in years.

hopkins best wins are against unproven hypejobs
im glad i picked hopkins to beat pavlik, how could that bum do anything against someone with a boxing brain?
i dunno how people had oscar as the favourite being as short as he was and way out of his realm coming off a robbery victory, but i guess you consider that a great win for bhop right?
hopkins only good win is trinidad, that's all

Then would you care to explain why this was your response to someone who discrediting Calzaghe's Hopkins win in your 'I miss Calzaghe' thread ;
"hopkins is still fighting and probally should be the linear champ at 175..so why are yall discrediting joe????so whats the point of anyone fighting hopkins??if he wins oh hes great..if he loses oh he was old"
It's abundently clear the basis of this thead is about the fact people discredit Joe's win.
I mean come on, it's not rocket science.Last edited by IronDanHamza; 02-23-2011, 12:14 PM.

Tito-undefeated middleweight champ (favored)
Oscar-better than the 1 Pacman beat
Tarver-Light heavy weight champ of the world,(favored)
Winky Wright
Kelly Pavlik undefeated middleweight champion (favored)
Jones, not much credit there, but worth mentioning since U really put Oscars name up there & Margarito's,lol!!
Fought to a draw against the 175 #1ranked champion at age 45
It's easily arguable.
