He wasnt down yet and i doubt it could have caused him any brain injury since he hit him in his left shoulder

nonito's was in the heat of the moment... if you don't slow down the replay, you can see the uppercut was a split second after the left hook
As another poster mentioned, it is very much an instinctual reflex acquired through constant habit of punching people.
Not here to argue, all I am saying is that if Abraham is a villain than Donaire's a (maybe lesser) menace as well.

Abraham was getting frustrated by Dirrell's constant head movement and by that point Abraham was head hunting, looking for 1 big shot.
When Dirrell tripped and dropped his guard Abraham just saw Dirrell's head finally stay still, so he instinctively threw the punch. I don't think he noticed Dirrell on the floor until the punch was done.
That's my perspective, having been in fights many times and not realizing certain things because I was focusing too hard on a single target.

shit thread
Was it Donaire's conscious intention to hit a falling opponent? The same way Abraham intentionally punched Dirrell fully aware that he was on the ground?

The very same people who will say "It's so different, he already knocked him out/down, it was in the heat of the moment, happens in boxing all the time, blah blah blah" are the ones who ostracized Abraham last year. In normal speed Abraham's punch did appear "in the heat of the moment," but everyone threw a fit when they watched the slow motion as if Arthur calculated all his actions, had some tea, and decided to give Dirrell an excuse out of the tourney.
Watching the slow motion of the Montiel knock out, it also appears as if Donaire intentionally punches an obviously downed opponent. See the similarities but the polarized responses to each?
Now, of course, I do understand that the situations are different, I'm just pointing out the inherent hypocrisy.
P.S. I'm no brain trauma expert, but I wouldn't be surprised if that follow-up punch actually caused some damage as well. The counter left obviously stunned him something terrible, but the second punch may have also worsened his dizziness and thus he could barely get up. Montiel should argue for a no contest. If he gets a good lawyer they can easily twist it that way.

but AA was desperate and frustrated. he needed to end the fight.
donaire was whupping montiel easy and had no desperation.
if anyone was blatant with the sucker punch, it was AA.

Montiel was out as soon as the hook landed
reflex action for Nonito to throw an extra right hand
this is no big deal at all
and fuck Dirrell, glad he got blatantly KTFO while down
