mayweather fought marquez in 09 and mosley in 10. he's barely fought in the past 5 years. he's great but his ranking is based on pedigree and past performances. he's hasn't done anything recently and yet he's up there.

When he "retired" for two years, he was taken out of the ranking entirely even though everyone knew he hadn't really retired. Hopkins' P4P ranking gradually went down due to inactivity and even after his performance against Pascal, Hopkins still isn't back in the rankings. Rafael Marquez and Vasquez eventually started to slide in the rankings, even before their fourth fight, but it took a long time before their slide started, because allowance was made for the fact that they wereboth injured, and because they had both performed so spectacularly in their previous fight. It took a long time for them to remove Pacquiao from the Jr Welterweight rankings, but they removed him in the end.

They're making allowances for Floyd's court troubles, and they're taking into the account the fact that in his last fight, he totally outclassed a fighter who was ranked in the P4P top 5 at the time. But if he doesn't fight this year, his ranking will rapidly start to slide. Popularity has nothing to do with it, they just always take their time to demote people due to inactivity, but they always do so in the end.

He Took shots from prime Santos and Julio without blinking. He's never been hurt or sropped. I'd be quite suprised to see that.

this will be a very difficult fight for martinez to dominate, but if he looks spectacular, he should get all kindsa credit.
