Established in 1867 by the Marquess of Queensberry:
To be a fair stand-up boxing match in a twenty-four foot ring or as near that size as practicable.
    No wrestling or hugging allowed.
The rounds to be of three minutes duration and one minute time between rounds.
If either man fall through weakness or otherwise, he must get up unassisted, ten seconds be allowed to do so, the other man meanwhile to return to his corner; and when the fallen man is on his legs the round is to be resumed and continued until the three minutes have expired. If one man fails to come to the scratch in the ten seconds allowed, it shall be in the power of the referee to give his award in favour of the other man.
A man hanging on the ropes in a helpless state, with his toes off the ground, shall be considered down.
No seconds or any other person to be allowed in the ring during the rounds.
Should the contest be stopped by any unavoidable interference, the referee (is) to name the time and place as soon as possible for finishing the contest, to that the match can be won and lost, unless the backers of the men agree to draw the stakes.
The gloves to be fair-sized boxing gloves of the best quality and new.
Should a glove burst, or come off, it must be replaced to the referee's satisfaction.
A man on one knee is considered down, and if struck is entitled to the stakes.
No shoes or boots with springs allowed.
The contest in all other respects to be governed by the revised rules of the London Prize Ring.

Floyd and his fans play on the fact that hes a pure boxer. But there is an ugly underlying current to his game.

On the other hand when has Pac ever been accused of being dirty? Pac is the pure boxer out of the two.

The ref is in the ring for a reason, if refs aint taking points away after over 40 fights who is to blame? Floyd? Not so much.

exactly....it's a fight. The problem these fighters have is that Floyd does it so well the refs rarely even warn him for it.

The elbow inside opens up room for him to throw. When he is inside he pushes downward on the fighters neck/back....incredibly smart...that's very draining. Try it sometime. If you have two guys pushing into each other holding a pad....step or lean back a bit and drop your elbow/shoulder on top and push them downward with their own momentum. It means he isn't getting tired wrestling inside.

We are so far away from the Queensbury rules it is laughable to bring them up.

Just because you also do some dirty thing does not make a boxer any less a boxer. Since they are not mutually exclusive and the dirty trick can be used to create and close openings that naturally exist.

Versatility always kills and being a great boxer who is able to get down and dirty is a great combo and one of the hardest to beat. All the really great boxers have their share of dirty tricks~.

this thread has become laughable at this point. "pure" boxer has nothing to do with the rough house tactics used. thats taking the wrong definition of pure. the fact that ur implying that makes u look like a fool.

Mayweather definitely has his share of illegal tricks he uses. Loves to use that forearm and elbow.

But overall I don't consider him an especially dirty fighter.
