True but when he does so, his combinations are more reckless. I think Donaire's best bet is to use his jab a lot instead of being really explosive. Forcing Montiel to open up for wide punches and countering with straight rights. It's a badass fight where I hate to see a loser but my heart will always be with Montiel.

the only edge i can give montiel is experience...having more tough fights and tougher opponents. he has experienced picking himself up from the floor and eventually win the fight. in short, he's been in wars that donaire has never been before.

i doubt though that is enough for him to overcome donaire's advantages and win the fight. donaire's definitely has the edge in boxing skills, height, reach and handspeed. i would say they're equal in punching power. heart and toughness...well montiel of course is more tested but donaire showed he had it too especially in the darchi fight. he was merely a prospect then but he didn't get intimidated a bit.

my prediction of course is a win by donaire but it's not going to be easy for him. the first one to land the big one can win the fight but in terms of what they can do, donaire will outpunch montiel.

the one thing that Montiel can capitalize on is Donaire's bravado...it's my main concern in this fight

there are many instances in Donaire fights where you'll catch him sitting there and loading up...he'll fire single punches and its a dangerous trait that he has...if he becomes one-dimensional in this fight, then the outcome becomes a toss up...similar to Vanes, both guys have a tendency to abandon game plans and attempt to brawl

although, as a fight fan, i'd like to see him do that every now and then (for entertainment value) he needs to show major discipline and stick with the gameplan of boxing

IF Montiel can lure Nonito into a firefight, it becomes anyone's game...BUT if you see Donaire stepping back and jabbing his way out of those situations, its gonna be a tough night for the warrior from Los Mochis

Yeah those are my exact thoughts. I think Montiel's experience even being the most prominent aspect to his advantage, it can be the most dangerous for Donaire. If Montiel makes Donaire abandon the jab it can be a bad thing for Donaire.
I'm exited about the fight, the true winner will be us the fans if the fight doesn't turn into a stinker.

Nonito better not *** around with his stance. Montiel has the pop to ko anyone at 118. But Nonito is far far to skilled. I don't think anyone can beat him at 118.

Donaire, too fast, too strong, too skilled, too slick, too young.
Power alone will not win it for Montiel, however, I've seen bigger upsets.
I think the fight has great potential.

                  Montiel by Ko 5

Montiel has face true banta in Hasegawa and Jhonny Gonzalez
While Donaire has fought minimuweight, lightfly, fly fighters Manuel Vargas and Raul Martinez, Hernan Marquez shiiit come on really all these dudes are the same come foward fighters while Hasegawa and Jhonny are boxer punchers Montiel wins not too easy but wins this fight

Donaire. He will use his height and reach to time and counter Montiel. I see Montiel trying to get inside for some hooks and Donaire catching him with flush lefts or an uppercut to drop Montiel. I feel Donaire beats him via TKO or UD by at least 3 rds.

                      Donaire: height 5′ 6″ / 168cm
                      reach 5' 8″ / 173cm

                      Montiel: height 5′ 4″ / 163cm
                      reach 5' 6½″ / 169cm
