It depends on exactly how much time were talking here but Hopkins, Jones, Mosley Hoya Cotto Juan M marquez Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather. There is extra because time is not specified.

I would say no, but I guess it all depends on who's in his generation.

Floyd, Pac, Hopkins, Wlad, JMM, are 5 guys that I would put ahead of Cotto easily...Rafa, Izzy, Johnson, and Mosley are guys I would count in Cotto generation and I would put those 4 ahead of Cotto as well.

That are 9 fighters that are IMO ahead of Cotto. So no I don't think he's a top 5 of his generation. Top 10 maybe and then who knows he still might not be. It all depends though on who you count his generation he might not make the top 10.

I wouldn't count Jones or Oscar in Cotto generation cuz' they're were done at the top level by the time Cotto became a top fighter. But, Hopkins, Mosley, JMM, Pac, and Floyd were all top and effective fighters during Cotto reign.

if you count all these surely Barrerra and Morales should be involved too? Theres just too many fighters thats had a great career to pick Cotto as top5 imo.

I agree though, it is hard to specify without a timeframe. But even if we say 2000-2010, i still don't think hes close to top5. if we go back further he also falls further on the list.

I would say no because they were done a top elite level by the time Cotto became a top elite fighter.

I agree with Jones, Morales, and Barrera not being in the same generation. But, why isn't Hopkins? He has been on the top elite level and very effective throughout Cotto reign. He is even a top LHW right now.
