Philippines One Two by the end of the year?

Could we see a Philippines one two in the P4P list by the end of the year?

Pacquiao at the moment is well clear at the top of the p4p list but there is another star from the Philippines that is in the p4p top 10 at the moment.

2011 could be a very big year Nonito Donaire, his career has stalled a bit since his very impressive KO of Vic Darchinyan in 2007 to claim the IBF fly weight champ.

But since then he has not really had the big fights his talent deserves, but all that changes on 19th of February 2011 when he takes on the toughest challenge of his career in another p4p top ten boxer, the WBC and WBO batamweight champ Fernando Montiel.

Montiel is in that elite group of Mexican 3 weight world champions, winning titles at fly, super fly, and batam is the real deal. He had a great year in 2010 with four fight and four KOs the most impressive being against Hasegawa in their unification match up. Montiel has only lost twice neither were decisive one a SD the other a MD.

Montiel is still very underrated, he is a great technician but also posses great power as Hasegawa found out to his detriment.

Montiel vs Donaire is by far the best fight that has been announced this year, the winner could rightly lay claim to the P4P no.2 spot.

Donaire who looked so impressive against Sydorenko with his great shot selection barely wasted a punch, and showed his huge power speed and his boxing brain.

If Donaire comes away with the win we could see in the ranking a Philippines one two in the p4p ranking, which will be very impressive IMO.

Don't think Donaire will break the top 3 unless he brutally takes out Montiel early then goes on to an equally impressive win later this year.

Even though Montiel will be a huge scalp for Donaire being a fellow p4p top 10, I don't think it will be enough to take Donaire to the No.2 spot.

But he can face the winner of the Bantamweight tourny, impressive win in both will put him in frame for the no.2 position.

Donaire's number 5 status has been questioned by fans and critics. If he defeats Montiel, I'm sure Nonito will be happy with the number 5 position. I think he will stay there anyway, brutal KO or UD.

think about who is in the top 3 slots

              1. Pacquiao- as long as he stays active and dominant he won't lose this spot
              2. Martinez- has made a stellar run and still has plenty to feast on at 154
              3. Marquez- could line himself up nicely for unification bouts at 135 and a 4th division title at 140 this year

              and this without including Mayweather

I like Nonito he is my boy but he would have to go through Montiel easy, the 118 winner easy and take one more fight for him to budge the top 3

I think Marquez gains nothing by fighting Morales, there is nothing left for him at 135lbs as well, need to step up to 140lbs to keep his position. And a lost to Pacquiao if they do fight will drop him more than a few places.

Martinez, needs a big fight, not many stellar names at 160lbs, I don't think he will go back down to 154lbs. A win at 168lbs against a top fighter keep his no.2 spot.

And could well push Pacquiao if he has lackluster performance against Mosley and doesn't have another big fight in the year.

Nothing certain but I think it is a real possibility of having a Philippines one two by the end of the year.

Nonito will not be near the top 5 as long as Pacquiao, Martinez, JMM, Mayweather, and The Klitchko's are still fighting!Maybe in a few years!!
