Salvador Sanchez was a proven champion with 40+ fights at 23 years old. I would've loved to see more from Sanchez (rematch with Gomez lol) Sanchez went down as one of the Mexican greats!!

Edwin Valero killed himslef in 2010 with a perfect record of 27w/27ko. I was watching videos of this guy sparring and i've never really seen people hurt someone else like that while sparring!! He was truly amazing!

I know a lot of people will probably say Sanchez (I would think so too), but think of the actual potential Valero could've had also!!

Let's get honest non-biased opinions here guys!!
I would say they are about even.

People say Sanchez only because of one guy he beat (Gomez)
Valero didnt have that one big name fight to make him more known. He did beat Nelson and Laporte but Nelson had like 13 fights and Laporte like 15.....honestly yhey should have not even been in the ring with him at that stage of the career.

Sanchez is in a sense like Margarito. When Margarito beat Cotto thats when his name skyrocketed.

I think the same too, Sanchez was a great boxer, and that is the fight that made him famous, beat Gomez 32-0-32 kos at the time.

But this whole thing wasn't in intent to compare them skillwise or none of that (too many people would be butthurt) but to get opinions on how their careers could've been like.

Uhh.......No, beating Lopez(2x) is what got his name out there like a (Margarito) Lopez=Cotto.

Beating Gomez just certified his greatness. That is like beating Floyd or Pacquiao. Nothing like Cotto at all against that comparison goes with the Lopez victory.

Laporte would have never been ready for Chava. 8 months after the Sanchez win he KO'd Rocky Lockridge in just 2 rounds again in just 8 months. Laporte really didn't improve after wards.

The only I do agree with is Nelson should not have been in the ring with Sanchez. But, he gave a good account of himself in that fight showed he was the truth for such a green fighter. That could of been a hell of a fight if they would of fought again when Nelson was more seasoned.

Sanchez also beat Ruben Castillo one of his most underrated win. And, maybe the Danny Lopez is an underrated win today. Because, people don't realize that Lopez was a big name back then just as big as Cotto name is today.

                Salvador Sanchez by far!!..

Sanchez and Valero should never ever be in a Poll together ever again.

What is your problem? Haven't u read? This is to see what their careers could've been like longevity wise, not saying who's best or whatever..

Keep in mind Margarito's name had already been established and he was already a x2 world champion. Maybe he blew up to the casual fan, but he was already a fighter with a solid resume before the cotto fight. Its not like he became a pacquiao or bute after beating cotto.

                      Well...Ok

I think that Sanchez was on arguably on his way down while Valero was on his way up.

Face it Valero was Koing guys left and right while Sanchez was almost taken out by a 13-0 Azumah Nelson...
After His Big Win. He won a Split decision, and UD.
