Wasn't a myth. JMM looked like shit as a WW and ought to know better than to kid himself again. Furthermore, his team shouldn't throw him to the wolves even if he's willing to try it himself.

It is ignoant to believe can not fight at 140 or 147 just based on his performance with Mayweather who is the cream of the crop!! IMO hed do just find at 140 against anyone there, once there he can adjust for a while and then move to 147 and fight Malignaggi to start and then fight a good contender like collazo to test himself, after that face Berto if he is still at 147, Marquez is a very good fighter who deserves respect at any weight!!

Not Every fighter moves through the weights like Manny Pacquaio. That guy is a freak. Juan is a dinosaur, the last thing he needs is to be slowing himself down with added weight, reducing the effect of his power, and fighting taller, stronger men.

The myth I referred to was that weightlifting makes one slower .
Besides , I never thought Marquez has anything to look for above 135 , especially not 147. Also , he needs to retire .

Jmm is a WELTERWEIGHT fight nights. You are right with your myth call.Last edited by serv; 01-02-2011, 03:54 PM.

if JMM was a welterweight like you state then why didn't he stay there in hopes of pursuing bigger named fighters in that division rather than go back down for essentially a Diaz rematch and a Katsidis fight? Surely a fight with say Andre Berto or Shane Mosley could have brought more money to him
and also when given a chance to take a tune up fight, where making weight is not an issue, why would he decide to come in at 138lbs, barely 3lbs over lightweight and 2lbs under Jr Welterweight rather than fight close to his Nov 12th contracted weight?
some of you need to stop dismissing the move up in weight as nothing. If it were nothing then JMM would have stayed at welter or jr welter rather than go back to lightweight

some people are realistic with what they saw, a man who really had no business as a welter
and let's say you're right let's say he could have done well as a welter or jr welter
then why not stay there? surely there is more money to be made and bigger names than a Diaz rematch and a Katsidis fight right?
I mean jr welter is a hot division right?
JMM knows his limits so much so he went back down to lightweight immediately
too bad his fans don't
