Cmon George!... its time to admit that you super fkd up in strategy for pwill vs martinez...you got a tall fighter not using his range and reaching in open for counters. you have him fight like that for every fight. cintron proved pwill can get hit flush. martinez hit him 8+ with the same punch before he got dusted.
Former champion Paul Williams has split victories with the boxer most experts regard as one of the top three pound-for-pound fighters in the world, WBC middleweight king Sergio Martinez. Williams (39-2, 27 KO) won a close decision over Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KOs) in December 2009. Martinez got revenge in their November rematch, by knocking Williams out with a crushing hook in the second round.
Williams is shot. KO's will continue to happen to him, and easier and easier. Sergio lucky Cintron fell (dove, according to some) out of the ring because Cintron would have KO'd Pwill, too.
It was a draw I think. Williams is only good at 147. cause he is tall doesnt mean he should fight above is natural weight. He made a mistake fighting Martinez at middleweight. He should have fought Martinez at 150 catchweight. Martinez can still make 150 cause Margarito and him is same size.
Well, the first thing is, forget about the fkn catch-weight fight's, we have seen enough of that **** already. 154 or 160, they are the options.
147 is not Williams natural weight. He is at least a JMW, he just likes having a big height/reach advantage over the naturally smaller welterweights.
Peterson's a sore loser, Williams struggled in their first fight, it couldve gone either way, then he gets iced in the rematch, accept it and move on, he still has something to offer but stop making excuses and fix up his defence. and what the hell does he mean "Paul was in control of the fight until he got caught"??? it was a good round 1 and in round 2 he got dropped, stop embarrassing yourself and fix up your fighters defence.
He's hardly doing Williams any favors by telling him that Martinez got lucky and only landed that punch because he was " desperate ".
OK Paul, just keep plugging away, that won't happen again..... honest
Martinez should have won the first fight.....but after that fight the Williams mystery was solved. That punch was not luck. Martinez had him timed. He studied him the first round and started catching him flush on the chin....more evidence was the way he was catching him before the big punch. Williams will never beat Martinez again. I don't see Peterson screaming rematch and I thought Emmanuel Steward was nuts saying Williams won round one or how the HBO guys were talking about his pressure. He was walking into punches. Watch Maidana that was pressure.
Correct, and good points, but you may even be understating what happened.
Martinez actually got Williams coming on to that punch with a couple little steps back, then he planted his left foot and threw the shot, which is why it landed so flush.
It is highly likely that a third fight between the two would result in a KO win for Martinez coming off that exact same punch.
