Berto is a bum, unproven fighter and too mechanical..

Do you really think Berto can beat or give Pac tough challenge? Besides, Berto is not a popular boxer. he is low risk, low reward choice for Pac.
The only fighter capable of beating Pac is on vacation and the other guy is a Middle weight..and none of the fighters available right now can generate revenue the same way Pac does..Pac doesn't have to prove anything anymore, so at this point in time Pac is a protected asset, there is nothing wrong with smart match making..if there is any guys out there that deserves to get paid top dollars with name, it is Sugar.
It really doesn't matter who they put in front of Pac, some sportsfans will watch it. Pac is way too popular and too exciting to watch.

No doubt i can see Pacs abilities as a fighter. he is gifted no one ever questions that. His opposition is what has made him look as good as he has and that is what i question (his opposition selection).

No i think Berto beats Shane now. Berto just has to counter punch Shane and fight smart by boxing. Shane has trouble with boxers who fight smart. If he fights like a Marquez keeping the right distance between him and Shane and catches Shane lunging in he beats shane. By then Shane will be frustrated and Berto starts to open up going to the body and tiring him as the fight goes on. Berto has the speed to do that to Shane. Shane ain't no bum but he ain't the same as he was at 135lbs and during the DLH days. That is how I see it.

Manny has a chance to win the WBC belt against a legit opponent that is why he should face Berto. If he is gonna stay at 147lbs and do like the legends of this beautiful sport have done and unify the division then Berto should have been next. That is why, and the money follows Pac regardless so that is never an issue.

Come-on lets not act like legends did not take fights just like the ones Pac is taking now,I have to disagree with ya with a Mosley and Berto fight..Berto is Mosley just less talented imo..He reminds me of Meldrick Taylor he is always squaring up and against a puncher like Mosley bad move..I could see Mosley putting his lights out in 3rds..Berto a legit fight for Pac??Based on the fact he has a belt I take it,the real question is who did Berto beat to get that belt??If you guess Ricky Martin you are correct,Berto won't be a legit fight for Pac until he proves himself somewhere and fights a top 5 WW..Bradley has proven more and I'd rather see Pac fight that fight as well..JMM I believe is a great fighter but I just think at 147lb he will be slugish and would be battered..Hey but I can respect ya opinion because ya carried ya self like a gentlemen..

No doubt legends of the sport have taken easy fights. but not to the extent that Manny has and you can't deny that. Instead of looking for a challenge he takes the easier fight, that's proven. And the legends did not take easy fights in their "prime" which lets face it Pac is in his prime. that's all i argue, only reason i debate about this is cuz Pac HAS the talent but won't use it against the best. and his fanboys and his team claim he is the greatest thing and an 8 division champion, when honestly they don't know much about the sport at all. you and your people claim your the best prove it. like all other fighters have to prove, and in order to prove it you fight the best at your prime. that's my opinion

You got your opinion on Berto's worthiness and i have mine i think he should be given a shot. but PLEASE DO NOT put Berto and Meldrick Taylor in the same category. Taylor is one of my favorite fighters ever, and he could box or brawl with the best. He had nice foot work which allowed him to hit and use different angles, had a good defense with his head movement (when he chose to) and had a huge heart. That Chavez fight ruined him. Taylor got in trouble when he started to trade with bigger punchers and he got wreckless and after Chavez he was not the same guy (sad to say the least). Berto is young and growing he has potential but we won't know how far he takes it. I wish i could see Pac vs Berto to evaluate the two "current" best at 147lbs

I respect your opinions man, keep them coming. I love this sport i been around it since i was a little kid and i always want to see the best fights made and won't expect nothing less.

I only believe Floyd has the ability to beat Pac,I would love to see Pac fight Bradley because I believe Bradley would present some problems for Pac more then alot of people believe..But other then either one of umm there is no one around are in the WW or Jr WW's I would think would give Pac to much trouble..

I think Berto presents a new challenge to Pac we haven't seen before and that is explosiveness and speed. Berto lacks defense i admit to that but i think he can give Pac a challenge. Better than Hatton, DLH, Clottey (didn't do crap) and Hands of Plaster Maragarito. Clottey was unknown till they started promoting him and now he is known, trust me if you can promote Clottey and Margacheato, they can promote Berto. so that is nothing but an excuse. Berto right now would have been the best option at 147lbs out of all of them. And just cuz Mosley is a legend does not mean he deserves the fight, it is what-have-you-done-for-me-lately in the boxing world. Mosley has looked sluggish starting with the Mayorga fight where he struggled to find his rhythm and finally start being effective.

Look, out of the 3 choices i would have liked to have seen JMM at 140lbs, he's the most technical fighter and smartest. imo would give Pac trouble again. Outside the 3, there is the 140lbs division which is stacked with young talent and i would like to see the top guy who emerges to fight Pac, they present the biggest threat. But we're talking about 147lbs and at this weight no one else is worthy or legit as Berto. He's the champ regardless who he's beat SO FAR.

And Manny does not have to prove anything. I respect his previous accomplshments up till 2008. but if he wants to be regarded in the same breath as Robinson, Pep, Duran, Arguello, Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, etc. he has to prove that or else; he can retire and his people and fanboys and he can stop talking about how great he is and all the other rubbish.

And I totally respect that,hey I want to see the best fight the best as well..But I'll say this much for Pac,I liked him for years now he has always shown heart and will(two things I love)he beat two legends MAB and Morales..He beat Clottey and no matter what anybody has to say when Pac took that fight everyone was like wow,it was an acceptable fight..You can say Cotto was weight drained but we know that's just not true..Cotto's body looked better at that weight and he did not look uncomfortable with his weight unlike Oscar..I say this to say,look at May yea some of his fights was B.S. but I can't say all of umm were..I believe Pac has had some real challenging fights and I believe he had some gimmies but dude is still a monster..

I compared Berto to Taylor because of the way he squares himself up(which Taylor did alot of)he wishes he was Taylor Berto could'int tie Taylor's shoes..Berto just does not work at getting better and that's his problem..I've been seeing him getting worse not better if anything..I would love to see Berto fight a top 5 WW heck I woud even love for Berto to fight Abregu it won't happen tho,Berto's people are scared because of that chin of his..They will risk it against Pac because he will make a butt load of money..Berto has some proven to do and not against the P4P best in the sport,Berto is not even in a P4P top 50 so what's the point ya know..

Two things 1.Clottey got known because as everyone with two eyes seen he beat Cotto in the Garden..2.There are many belt holders at 147lb Berto is just one of the belt holders not the Champ..BTW he did not even earn his belt from a true opponent he fought a Latin singer come-on man..If he wants to be regarded with those great names he needs only one person and his name is not Berto..

What a rip off. **** Arum and Pacquiao for taking this lame fight. Mosley lost like 10 rounds to 2 (possibly even 11-1) against Mayweather, why's Pacquiao fighting him? Scrap that, I know why, Arum wants the biggest amount of green for the lowest risk - doesn't wanna split the take with another promoter. Yet another fck you to the fans. Hell, at least Floyd fought Shane when fans were CALLING for it. No1 called for this fight. Shane couldn't beat Sergio freakin Mora, Pac is gonna have him for lunch. BIG DEAL.
