    140-lb Division/Tim Bradley

Last night on HBO was great, props to GBP for putting 4 of the top 10 140-lbers in there on the same card last night...

Here's my evals and a 5th note on Tim Bradley:

Victor Ortiz -- still only 23 yo, strong, athletic, but still not smart or tough and also looks to have outgrown the division... He lost 6 of 10 rds last night IMO and was saved by two flash KDs in the 3rd round, the second of which wasnt really a KD... He was noticeably slow, and totally outboxed as LP just countered him to death with flush, clean shots... I still view him as a top prospect, who seems to always be in exciting fights, but def better suited for 147...

Lamont Peterson -- I've liked this kid since my first site 2 yrs ago and still like him... He's one of the toughest kids on the block and though he's probably not in the top 5, he would be competitive with any of the guys there with his quickness, ring generalship and no quit attitude... His one loss is to the best 140-lber in the world and there's no shame in that... He deserves more big fights, maybe an appearance on BAD or Showtime... Urango is a good name or maybe the dangerous puncher Mattheyse...

Marcos Maidana -- LOVE this guy, he's not the most skilled, but not unskilled either and he gives you 110% out there and thats all i ever ask for. He took chances all night long and eventually they paid off as he came within a whisker of stopping the more gifted Khan... This guy hits like a truck and has more heart than 3 men especially after being dropped with 2 vicious body shots in the 1st round... Looking forward to seeing more from "El Chino" I'd love to see an all Argentian war with countryman L. Mattheyse. That would produce plenty of fireworks...

Amir Khan -- Khan showed tons of heart by hanging on in the later rounds last night while being on spagetti legs after showing tons of skill in building a large lead probably winning the first 5 rounds... He's got good feet and GREAT hands, but still needs to sit down on his punches better... Plus he's very vulnerable to the counter (stay away from guys like Bradley and Marquez and definitely Mayweather for the time being)... His overall defense still needs work too and he needs to be more economical with his punches as he seemed to tire in the middle rounds... Skills/Ability wise, he's got the most in the 140-lb division slightly more than Devon Alexander, but I wouldn't call him either smart or polished at this point in time. At 24, he's an awesome talent who should still be brought along causiously... Again stay away from skilled counterpunchers like: Bradley, Marquez and stopping mentioning Mayweather please... I'd say he and Alexander are jockeying for the #2 spot right now...

With all this being said, Tim Bradley was the bext boxer in the arena last night and Devon Alexander may well have been #2... Bradley would have beat all 4 of those guys had he been in the ring last night by a WIDE margin... He already blew away a game Peterson, He'd box circles around Maidana and frustrate him into oblivion and thats the real reason why Maidana wanted no parts of him... He'd do the same to Ortiz at 140 or 147. Vcic might not win a round... And he'd thug Khan imposing his will on him and maybe even stop him in the later rounds because of accurate countering... Bradley's a machine and though there are more talented overall guys (Khan/Alexander), this guy just has that certain something that separate the players from the pretenders and that dog toughness that every great boxer needs to be successful... Can't wait for Jan. 29!

I agree with Bradley being the best fighter at 140. He has that #1 ranking but Khan is #2.

He is better than Alexander. And, to me Alexander doesn't have a clear #3 spot either. #3 can go to Alexander or Kotelnik or Maidana. Each one of them have a case for that spot.

I think Alexander can give Bradley trouble, but thats not to say that he will...

I think Maidana could take Kotelnik in a rematch and would spark out Devon.

        No sweat.

Ortiz is 6 or 7 IMO... I like Urango better and maybe Mbauza, maybe Judah right now... Oh and Kotelnik... I'd say he's 8th actually...

Khan right now is #3... He should move up to #2 after jan. 29...
