haters hate, make ****** predictions. get proven wrong again and again.still have some lame ass ****** comments to try save themselves, look ****** and bitter! then repeat the same actions learning nothing!.

khan boxed great, dared to test himself, proved his chin heart and conditioning, made the fight closer deliberatly to be more entertaining on his vegas debut!

does need to not be so gutsy and clinch more if needed, let go more, dont move away with head up and no guard sometimes.

Yeah I feel the same way Khan fought well but I felt like the ref assisted him to this win. Kind of cheapened it for me.

JMM vs Katsidis was stopped while Katsidis was still on his feet by a MUCH BETTER referee, and he wasn't taking nearly the amount of punishment as Khan took. Why didn't Cortez stop this fight? Oh yeah thats right, cause Amir Khan is the next "Golden Boy" and no one wanted to ruin his image right?!

Bull****. Maidana was the only one looking to fight. He proved hes the only one with the balls. Thank the boxing gods for fighters like Maidana...otherwise we'd have a bunch of track runners in the ring who dont wan't to fight each other.

I believe that the early body blow that maidana took in the first round that floored him took away most of his punching power and stamina. But still Kahn was able to hang in there.

What a fight, cong**** to both guys...please may the khan haters rest. He fought a great fight, took shots, answered all the questions...is he the finished article? Hell no! A fighter with his speed should not be getting caught that much and he needs to learn how to avoid uppercuts...but then again I think most of the damage was done in the 10th, and that can happen against such a big puncher.

Maidana can win a world title, is he an elite fighter? No, but definitely world level. He is certainly better than juan urango, and ricardo torres, 2 recent south american punchers in the 140 weight class.

Give both guys props, and give me a ****ing break on the referee! Maidana deserved a deduction for the elbow, and yes cortez does break fighters up too quickly...thats his style always has been, everyone knows this, it worked against ricky hatton, and today against maidana...but in neither case would it have changed the outcome of the fight...if anything the quick breaks were helping maidana when khan was hurt late in the fight, khan could have been deducted a point for holding though. By the way just watched the 11th round back for a 2nd time...clearly a khan round in my opinion.

                    Digest...im off to bed
Good post. I agree with almost all of this.

                    Here's my take.

                    1. Hats off to both guys. They both showed alot of heart.

                    2. Neither guy is elite at this point though. Khan needs a little more seasoning.

                    3. I think Khan showed that he doesn't have a glass jaw. He took some nice shots from Maidana early in the fight and didn't show any effects. Remember those early uppercuts? It's true he was almost stopped in the 10th, but he weathered the storm.

                    4. I thought Cortez did a poor job, but probably for different reasons than most people. He needed to take a point from Khan for holding (assuming it continued after a warning). I am glad you mentioned that. It is a pet peeve of mine that holding is specifically illegal and yet many refs never enforce that rule. I am not talking about two guys getting tangled up, I am talking about when one guy holds tight for dear life, including long after the ref has yelled "Stop! Break!" and while the ref is physically trying to pry them apart. That kind of holding is very illegal and can have a huge effect on the fight. That is why it is a very serious foul and Khan did it repeatedly. He did it when he was hurt in the middle of the fight and he did it in all of the last three rounds. At one point, he was using both of his arms to hold tight to one of Maidana's arms, and he was bending low at the waist. Maidana of course hit him in the back of the head, because there is no other way to hit the guy when he grabs your one arm and then bends deeply at the waist. Of course Cortez warned Maidana but not Khan. For the love of god, holding is illegal. They need to enforce the rule because it is the type of foul which can ruin fights. Maidana was cheated out of a chance to stop Khan, catch up on points or win a DQ. All I am saying is that he should have been given the chance and that the rules should have been enforced.

                    4. Did Khan get ****y after the brilliant 1st round knockdown? I expected him to be on his bike a lot more.

                    5. I probably give the 11th to Maidana. In fact, it was heading for a 10-8 round until Khan came on late. I only watched the round once, but let me describe what I remember of most of the round... Khan is running like a scared rabbit, with his ear-muffs firmly attached as Maidana chases him around the ring and lands some nice punches. Yeah, when you do this for most of the round it's really tough to pull the round out. I don't believe a guy should be able to "steal" a round in the last 30 seconds. It happens all of the time, but only because the judges are so clueless.

                    6. Maidana won the 10th round 10-8 on any competent judge's scorecard. Maidana was on his way to winning rounds 11 and 12 10-8 until Khan rallied late in both rounds. The reason he was on his way to winning those rounds 10-8, despite the fact he wasn't doing massive damage, is that Khan was just running away, without throwing any punches. And he did get hit by some punches as well.

                    7. I didn't score the fight round by round and I was feeding my baby for some small stretches of the fight, so I can't say who I thought won. I thought it was close but that Khan was def going to get the decision. I don't have a problem with the decision. Again, Cortez should have warned Khan for excessive holding and then started taking points/DQed him if it continued. Letting a guy bear hug even after you repeatedly yell "Break!" is like allowing intentional elbows, headbutts or low blows - it can ruin the fight. It's a serious foul. It's clearly against the rules. I don't know why they don't enforce it.

Khan ****ed Maidana up with the body shot, he hurt him more than he was hurt himself.
