Mosley was 37 when he faced Marg and Marg was 30 when he faced Cotto does anything else need to be said? 1 fight before Cotto Margarito beat up and dispatched of Cintron, Mosley struggled for 12 rounds before knocking out a faded version of Ricardo Mayorga. Still having problems?

He should of fought Mosley, IMO.
I think the debate here is... just how good was the win, based on Mosleys abilites at the time of the fight... rather than just look at where he was ranked.. because the ranking was based off a performance from a year and a half ago, and seemingly was inflating the general thought of what Mosley realistically had left in May of 2010.

Also, not trying to beat a dead horse here on the "frustration" point Gambler was making, but I remember Ray Leonard stating that "speed nullifies power, strength, everything..." and that Nelson was getting "frustrated" when he fought Pernell Whitaker. Although Pacquiao is no Whitaker.

Just from my stance, I don't think Mosley was a shot fighter going into the Mayweather bout. I see where you guys are coming from about the layoff though.
