Comments Thread For: Marquez Stakes Claim as Pacquiao’s Truest, Best Foil

I think a Pac-Marquez III would be pretty much III...the third option:
1. Mayweather - financially and legacy wise, best fight.
2. Mosley - financially better option compared to 3 & 4
3. Marquez - good challenge for Pacquiao but requires a guaranteed purse and a fight at 147.
4. Berto - virtually unknown (although he is a titleholder) and does not bring in the $$$
5. Alexander/Bradley - either of these boxers will be willing to go up to 147 to get a crack at the Pacquiao sweepstakes.
To say that Pacquiao is scared of Marquez is just crazy, only fools believe that especially if your a Pac hater. It's all about business and the only fighter out there that Manny would agree to concede(to some concessions) to a certain degree would be Mayweather. Other than that, Pacman can demand anything.
All roads lead to Manny Pacquiao

Also, a draw and SD win can't be considered an ass kicking, especially when one wins more rounds than the other.

It’s still a natural matchup between the preeminent irresistible force in boxing and its most competitively compelling immovable object. And in spite of blather on one side and recent forays into petty interpersonal crime on the other, I still think it’s a challenge both men are eager to tackle.
But it’s no longer the do-or-die option it seemed this time last week.
Over nine grueling, punishing and competitively thrilling rounds at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night, reigning 135-pound champion Juan Manuel Marquez established himself as a lighter, less-controversial option that’ll do just fine should “Money?opt out for another 12 months.
In fact, by going nose to nose, climbing off the floor and eventually dismantling and stopping a game foe in Michael Katsidis, the 37-year-old Mexican workhorse reaffirmed the very qualities that have made him the streaking Filipino’s longest-running and most successful foil in the first place.
While the Mayweather posse and the 24/7 fuel it brings would surely make pre-Pacquiao hype must-see premium cable TV for as long as the run-up lasts, the evidence already provided in 2004 and 2008 might actually make Marquez a more convincing commodity once the bell rings. [Click Here To Read More]
although i don't really see marquez winning a third fight.
i agree with "styles" but that thing was 4 years ago after their last fight. pacquiao has grown bigger and his styles improve hugely.
and like what i was always saying, if marquez really want to face pacquiao, as an agreement with lyle, he will just have to accept the terms to be given to him. he don't have any say about it. he is the challenger and he must concede whatever offered to him. there's only two options for him: a YES or a NO. the reason i am saying this because pacquiao has done his share of pushing the farthest north he can; marquez have not done that -- he did it once with floyd but failed.

I am a HUGE Marquez fan, but you people are overreacting to a war he had with a fighter not a third of Pacquiao's caliber.
Two years, ago, Marquez was Pacquiao's worst nightmare.
Today, not so much. Time and weight has reduced that nightmare to an annoyance.
