"I didn't need to fight [Klitschko] again." Lennox Lewis

"So you know when it came time to say well do I want to fight Klitschko again I'm thinking, at my worst, at my worst, I beat Klitschko, and look what I did to his face, and you know we're at this level, this is my worst, just think if I would train just a little bit better, I would beat him, so I didn't need to fight him again."

"What I did to Klitschko, I brought him into the deep end."

I wonder why though was he waiting around for rematch with a shot Tyson then? Why was Lennox unwilling to cash in a cool $20 million for a rematch with Vitali but he was going to court to force Tyson to get in the ring again and make the same $20 million?

    Kinda weird isn't it.

Im glad he finally admitted this.

At the time he was ashamed to admit he was past his best, he was ****y in the post fight interview and it made him look bad. If he was simply honest from the start, he would get more credit for his great win over Vitali. WHo was absolute prime at the time.

Sure Lennox. What you actually meant to say was "I wouldn't give him a rematch because we would take my crown and tarnish my legacy"

Lennox Lewis Was losing on all cards and got away with a fraud win. Of course he didn't want the rematch. Vitali would have put him thru the meat grinder for a 11 rounds then KO him.

The Tyson rematch negotiations were in Jan of 2003, before he even fought Vitali. In the interview he explains that he had a personal vendetta against Tyson, and that he was his main motivation to train hard. Once Tyson faded away, so did Lennox's passion for the sport.

Lennox was fat, old and unmotivated against Vitali yet still won.

Lennox's worst > Vitali's best.....It makes no sense for an even older and more unmotivated Lennox to give him a rematch.

an in shape lewis beats vitaly, but I think lewis knew he was on his last legs already.

he's smart for getting out while on top and not coming back.

btw, the interview is 30 minutes long and is worth watching in its whole... Klitschko is just one topic among others...
